can someone help me out with explaining the difference between pitch and tone. is it the same thing? just a little info would be good.

Pitch is frequency. The difference between C and C# is that the latter is higher in pitch.

Tone is timbre. Its what makes a note played on a guitar sound different from the same note played on a piano. (but it also makes a C on a piano sound different than a C# on the same piano). so you can use tone in the same sense as you would use pitch, but you can also use tone to describe the differences between different instruments.
