Backlights and LCDs are two different items. If the LCD has missing lines then a new backlight will do little good. AFAIK, Akai is the only place to get replacement LCD's (and believe me, we have looked).

So thats it? I have one vertical line in my 2000 screen. I thought someone in the forum found a place to buy the lcd sceens besides akai. But if you say you can only get them from akai, I believe you. What is the price in the US?

You are going to need to be a little more specific. That seach returns over 23 million results.
I do not understand the problem with just buying it from Akai, and I am pretty sure they are less than 200 USD.

Might as well have gone to Walmart. We might get some absent minded questions here, but I am pretty certain that everyone here knows more than GC salespersons.
For a city of over 1 Mil, we have NO GC and three mom and pop music shops (and any of them beat GC's or MF's prices any day of the week). If your city has anything like these them it hugely helpful to develop a close relationship with them. They have gotten me LCD's and other parts whenever I needed.
Akai Pro US does not do the parts distribution anymore, so you may have to go through VST.

Man, I got so many lines in my MP it looks like a grid! I'll be needing a new screen for mine ASAP. I hear it's about $200.00USD (I'm in the States, unfortunately). Are the replacements for the 2000 and the 2000XL around the same price?
