Obviously limited. You cant preview synth sounds before playing them. you have to switch to the sound and then go to perform andplay. U dont like the sound you back to sounds and repeat.

arpegiator is cool. I played some preset rhythms / sequences and I think it sounds surprisingly good. I tried to make my own sequence and it crashed and / or sounds glitchy. Just now I got a low memory error. Well I can say i keep a lot of music on my iphone so i probably dont have enough mem to properly run it. Right now I just tried to play a synth on it and got low memory error. OK. maybe 3g iphone is not for SynthStation. I'll try it on my wife's ipad when it arrives next week or so. Oh well.

I do think this is akai's preview of a venture into a possible vst soon. it would be dope to have something that competes with machine as the Synthstation seems to visually emulate the mpk / mpd series of controllers.

@ psr - i've been waiting to hear more about the synth station from a user's standpoint. so i was glad to find this topic. i dont own an iphone. but i told an old friend who i work with about it, since he showed me some other music apps.

btw, have you seen the line 6 midi mobilizer interface for the iphone?

slightly off-topic... that makes me wish i had an iphone. but at the moment i bought a nintendo dsi xl with the korg ds-10 plus cartridge. it's really sweet. but i'm still hoping for a midi interface for the dsi xl. the only thing i've come across is the dsmi wifi software host, which i have to use midi ox. supposedly the latency issues running windows could make this useless (if it even works with the korg ds-10 plus). dsmi was designed for homebrews. so i'm gonna test it now anyway and see what happens.

If it doesnt run well because of a lack of memory, then its probably ram, and deleting music shouldnt make any difference (if you were planning on doing that) ..But if you got other programs running, web browser etc, then it might help turning all of them off before starting.

Good point... i have no knowledge on if iPhones use some sort of caching so I was going to remove some music but yeah maybe I do have a few web browser windows open. I can say it ran well only once. but I was kinda driving  and couldn't check it out.
