prophet 08 versus monomachine

If you had to choose between the two, what would you choose?

Neither..how about that

I find this a weird question, one is a analog beast the other a digital monster.....

I'd go prophet 08, seems to be amazing at what it does (i'm more into ambient analog pads than freaky leads and stuff)
But yeah strange choice of 2 synths, maybe think more about what you want to add to your productions and what machine might provide those kind of sounds (IE a pretty fundamental question of a mono or poly synth to start with)

a long long time ago, i was into step sequencing with some roland equipment, i then quit and picked up an akai 2500 a machinedrum and some other equipment through the years, more recently i have been learning about scales and chords and sound synthesis, so the most obvious option was to get a good polyphonic synth with at least 61 keys.
I have a loan of a prophet 08 at the moment and i love it, but the only thing is, i have to set up each time i load up a sequence from the 2500, but with the monomachine i dont have to save or load sequences, and i instantly have a pallete of sounds to choose from and i can layer up to six tracks using different sounds, at the moment i would have to connect 6 synths to the 2500 to do that, i know the monomachine doesnt have 61 keys so that is an issue, i do like analogue ambient pads myself, is the mnm capable of ambient pads?

Agreed strange choice but if you were to spend crap loads of money on a digital synth have you at least looked at the competition? Nord, Clavia, Waldorf and Korg all offer things that imo sound better..yea the SID emulation on the Monomachine is cool but geez the price again lol I can make SID sounds on my Blofeld if I program it well.

6 Notes of poly isn't a lot from that thing either seeing as you will be using it multi-timbraly also the sequencer is a bit of a waste on it as you have a MPC

For synths in that price range i'd get a Virus Ti2 Polar.

If you want keys on a monomachine - pick up a used sfx-6 on eBay - there are two on eBay (uk) as we speak.
