How exactly would I run my MPC 1000 through the Alesis 3630 (in terms of ins/outs), then record into Audacity via my 4 Channel, and still keep the effects of the 3630 after recording through my interface?

MPC out to 3630 in
3630 out to interface in

When you play back your tracks in Audacity, they will have been recorded with the 3630 on them.

I think that is what you want.

you'll want to have your 1000's OUTS running into the 3630's INS. and then, have the 3630's OUTS running into your interfaces INS.

that way your mpc will be running through both the 3630 and your interface, while still having the effects once recorded into audacity.

(i think this is how it would work, makes sense 2 me... :wink: )

You want your mpc outs in to the alesis and then in your sound card!!
:shock:

... sorry couln´t help it krushy but what would be ideal, would be to have a mixer! with one of the busses of it assigned to the alesis main ins and have one aux (or two for using the 3630 in dual mono operation) to the alesis sidechain in´s ..

if you dont have a mixer with busses or aux sends .. and only the MPC, 3630 and a sound card ...do what krush said .. but also use one of the sub outs on the mpc to trigger the side-chaining on the 3630.. (handy when you want to do ..well err.. side-chainig

just my two cents really.
Alesis 3630 is a compressor and is usually inserted inline with the signal chain. so not in engineer speak, a compressor is usually a used directly on a sound, in the above case;
from mpc1000 output to
input of 3630,
then output from 3630 to
the input of your interface (soundcard or mixer).
I am lucky in the sense that the applications where i use a MPC and a 3630 is in the studio and the console has insert points but the above is what i would reccommend if you don't have that luxury.
hope that's helpful.
