why do you still use akai os?

why are you all still using akai os and not converted to jjos? im just curious, not trying to be a dick. I could see not paying for the newer versions of jjos, but there is a free version. I guess im wondering why anyone decided to stick with stock os. since converted I dont think i could ever go back.

I dont think people are doing that... maybe one guy I saw here saying he still uses the akai OS some times... and that is only for his studio for when people come in with akai OS beats.

i have no real complaints about the akai os as it relates to my workflow, and most of the explanations about the jjos are kinda vague. very enthusiastic, mind you, but i don't see any feature that's so compelling i'd want to switch up.

I don't have the time to o into things right now (but I can/will later) but I can't ever imagine going back to akai os! I haven't looked into it so I'm not sure how much the akai os limits me, you, but one thing I just could NOT live without is non destructive chop.

Using a 500 here.. so no JJ for me.. (will jj for the 500 ever happen?)

u gotta be kidding or just don't play the MP much or else u would of converted by now...

Im using the stock OS.........once mpc 187 helped me make an easy chromatic program......i was set.......it works fine with my current work flow. Once/ if i eventually get more outboard Gear, then i might make the switch

JJ is all about enhanced functionality and workflow, so if that appeals you should seriously consider upgrading.

The enjoyment factor of zipping around the machine is amazing.

my sound generators are software based, so far moving about has been fairly easy and sequencing, recording etc into the mpc has really felt all that limited running the native OS......

The limitations of the Akai os become more apparent once you upgrade. It's all good though...

improved copying andpasting........step recording function TRUE, not worth close to $2 bills for me right now

improved autochop =i got audio editting software, sound studio, recycle, etc.....

easier creation of sample pgm's = cpu software can handle that

more efx, sample bit rate changing = i agree GREAT functions...........logic has great plug-ins too....

trust me I considered when i first got my mp, but over time, i just wonder how much it'll improve my workflow at this point

Last time I looked it was $113... so closer to 1 bill if we're rounding down instead of up.

We can all chop and edit audio with software, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having an MP in my opinion. Part of the feel comes from manually chopping and editing in the box, and with NDC you don't actually have to chop!

Do you use the 2500? If you do then you can practically kiss goodbye to the Mode button because you won't need it with os2xl because you can program your numeric keys to jump to specific modes. It's a small touch but it makes a world of difference to the workflow.

The way Trim works is pure quality. Quantize strength gives you more options with timing, not to mention enhanced naming, saving and also a few old Akai bugs that could trash your hard drive which have been ironed out...

I've had it just over a year and in that time there has been over 25 updates! It may seem pricey but for what you get now and in future updates it's actually really cheap.

I use my 2500 with the Original OS. I have been researching the JJOS and it does sound nice. I work just fine with it and the Akai OS. I follow the JJOS thread, but i have been compelled to switch yet.

You don't have to switch... just try the demo and see if you like it.
