I just got a 2000 classic for $160 with 8 outs!!!!

can anyone close to or in minnesota send me an OS??

Don't you have a old PC with floppy drive? You can download it and create a start up disk in no time...

Do NOT pay for an OS disk when you can get it for FREE! That's RIDICULOUS!

Go to forat.com , click on Customization, and click on MPC2000, and click on Download the Latest MPC2000 OS Version 1.72. And download to your computer. Using any zip drive or a floppy drive, take a 100MB zip disk and FAT-format. Copy the 2 files, .exe and .sys files to the zip disk. You know have a bootable disk with the latest and greatest operating system. It really is that easy.

Don't pay for something that is already FREE! Cannot believe it! #%@# RIDICULOUS!

Mad_MPC, what I think you are forgetting is that not everyone has a floppy drive on their computer anymore - in fact, they are getting more and more scarce. I agree that the os should be free - in fact, we have the files available for free download on our website (look for the Free Downloads page - we have oses, manuals, all kinds of stuff) but we have to charge a small fee for the manual task of making the floppy disks and sending them out. I see other folks charging a whole lot more for these things - all we are doing is covering our costs of keeping the lights on and the website cranking.

Grublet, for $10.00, it would be Priority Mail which usually delivers anywhere in the US in 2 days (but it isn't guaranteed and occasionally takes a day longer). So if we ship them on Wednesday, you'd most likely have them on Friday but Saturday at the latest.

Thanks for the info, all. I am going to be able to download it hopefully... got a few dell desktops around here somewhere...

SCSI... on the asr card reader, is there a special converter to run this off of a floppy ribbon? Or does the m. Board have a scsi slot that is unused like some akai gear?

SO... if anyone cares...

I got it installed...

Boots...

but, when I have a formatted floppy in the mp, and I try to do an OS copy, It says the original can only come from the floppy (and when I try whatever to get around it via the save screens, different scsi locations, it won't let me put it on floppy)

Whats the workaround? I don't really mind just having it on the zip, but floppys are much easier to have lying around in multiples..

also,

what the heck is with the fact that you can't extract (or can you?)

and what the frik is up with not being able to copy copys, like even if you change the name, then it says 'name already used!' or something.
