why do you still use akai os?

JJOS is *UGLY*. The teensy font is just mis-shapen and JJ has no graphics design sense. The Akai OS is just plain simple, easier to read from a distance and reliable. I have had so many random screen jumps on JJOS versions. No, it isn't just button bouncing, it can jump from say step editing to effects which shouldn't be possible. But I've had a screen jump perhaps once in 4 years on Akai OS.

Haha, the only thing that's in the Akai OS is that Japanese girl holding that sign on one of them options. Chopping is sooo much better in the Free JJOS.

i can't even stand the file browser menu in the regular AKAI OS... at least the JJOS gives you a much larger view of a folder's contents. the AKAI OS drives me insane every time i'm in the LOAD screen... but maybe that's just me...

im using the 1000............did he drop prices of JJOS.......casue I swear they were pricier 6 months ago. PLus its 113, etc....or dont you have to buy Vers1, then Vers2, etc. etc....?

I wouldnt never have even purchased my 1k if the JJ os wasnt available.

Global program editing alone is worth it! Not really a big deal feature when you're not a sample based producer. But when you chop a sample into 48+ pieces, and you have to tune/tweak each of them 1 by 1, beat making becomes not fun anymore!

Bottom line, if you are a sample based producer and you are on akai OS, you are missing out greatly and probably wasting a lot of your time! **** all that "well Pete Rock did this back in the day" and "oh, well Damu the Fudgemunk still does this" bullshit. Like Biggie said, "**** this ain't back in the day, but you don't hear me though." Technology advances for a reason!

i'm more sample based than a carpet sample salesman at a carpet sample convention in sample city, indiana. but i do most of my sample editing and chopping within soundforge. especially with the 2500 and usb connectivity, it's pain-free.

What do you do when you want to tweak the samples mid-beat? Export them back to PC, edit them, then send them back to the MPC?

depends. if it's something big, i'd just do it in soundforge and save over the existing sample. for minor edits, i learned on a 2kxl so the 2500 is delightfully less onerous.

The jump from the 2500 akai os to JJ is similar in scope to the jump from 2kxl to 2500. The same again in other words.

so i keep hearing, but i've yet to hear about a feature that makes me say "that would be a lifesaver".

No feature on any mpc can be described as a lifesaver. It's just a bunch of tools in a toolbox, and JJ gives you better tools.

I have JJOS 3.09. Very similair to the Akai one.
Except for :

-Global program edit mode.
-Better chopshop interface
-Better overview of the load/save screen
-Stereo chops
-Option to cancel out the left or the right side of a sample

Reason enough for me to upgrade.

You JJOS fanboys just can't help youselves. This thread is about why people continue to use Akai OS. So if you don't use it, don't post!
