PROBLEM THAT HAS ME PUZZLED???? I NEED TROUBLESHOOTING HELP

Hi Everyone...

I'm new to the mpc 1000 but i have a problem that really is puzzling me...

i have the mpc 1000 BK old version with supposedly the bad pads with JJ OS 3.1.2 that i got from a friend of mine who left and went overseas for military reasons....

everything works, the data wheel works fine...i can record as normal from the mpc....pads work fine...but here's my problem...

i have the fantom xr rack that i just got to complement my studio...i have everything hooked up perfect but i can't change the "Type" field from "Drum" to "Midi" using the data wheel....nor can i change the program field using the data wheel as well...

Since the data wheel works on everything else i know the data wheel isn't broken...

Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem?

Do you have the track in record/play mode when you are attempting to make this change?

i would recommend trying the mpc from scratch, see if you can change it, then add your stuff together and see if something is causing a problem, from personal experience, using certain instruments sends weird data back and worth

also do you have the mpc as master?
