rearranging a bar.... (shifting beats within)

I hope I can make this clear enough to follow. Okay, let's say you're building a sequence, and you've gotten caught up in what you're doing and aren't paying attention to the measure display or click track (mainly because you're not using one). You stop and press play only to realize that you've accidentally turned your beat around (no puns please) so now what you meant to be the beginning of the sequence is actually the third beat of a 4/4 bar. So instead of 1...2...3...4. Your sequence plays properly when counted 3...4...1...2 How (if possible) do you shift what is supposed to be the first 2 beats of the sequence (now playing on beats 3 & 4) to where they should fall (on beats 1 & 2)?

use copy/bars to a new move the beat to a new sequence. use start from and end from and copy to and do it twice and you can sort it out.

clearification:
basically copy from 1.3.1 -> the end of your beat to 1.1.1 on a new sequence. then copy 1.1.1 (old) to 1.3.1 on the new to sort it out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you couldn't select individual beats within a bar using the Copy Bar feature. Can't you can only choose measure numbers (like 01.03.00) using the Copy Event option? In theory, Copy Event might work, but that means I'd have to do the same operation for every track in the sequence. Am I missing something? Is there another way?

i didnt think you wanted individual hits.
i thought you wanted to 'flip' the sequence around because it starts on a bar other than 1, because of the way you made it?
the way i described lets you re-arrange a sequence in chunks.

My bad Brain, I guess I was a little unclear. In essence, what I want to do is shift all events between 01.01.00 thru 01.03.00 to the end of the sequence. Then and move foward all events from 01.03.00 thru 02.04.60 (the end of the last beat in the 2nd bar) so they begin at 01.01.00.

right, so see my first reply for instruction. use copy/bars for this.

Somebody should explain this with more depth.

ok lets say you make a beat (sequence 1)that is like 16 bars long
and you decide that you really like bars 3-7 and want to make a new beat out of that but want it to be followed by bars 1,2,then 9 then 8 then 10

make sequence2 like 16 bars long (or longer)

all you gotta do is going into edit, copy/bars (f1 then f2)
and you
copy from sequence1, start bar 3 end bar 7 to sequence2 to at start bar 1, copies 1.

now go back to copy/bars (f1 then f2) and copy from sequence1 start bar 1 end bar 2 (copies 1) to sequence2 at bar 5.

once you do the first half of this you will see how to get the 9 8 then 10 bars in there.
it is really pretty easy. it allows you to really go back and move any parts of any sequences whole bars at a time to anywhere you want them.

That was great reply brainwashcloth, but i think blaqsoul wanted to know if you can copy specific bits of a bar....Not WHOLE bars (such as 01.01.00 thru 03.00.00) but only specific parts of a bar such as 01.03.00 thru 02.04.60:

Im not sure what he wanted but i usually follow brainwashcloth's method when i copy...it would be cool though if you copy specific bits of a bar! Does any1 know how? Peace yall

Here's a quicker way than brain's,

Copy bars, copy your whole shit bars 1-4, to the begining or end of your seq.

then go to delete bars, delete 1-2, then 7-8.

Voila.

I do it the long way which is track by track and takes a long time if i use alot of tracks like 14. Thats probably the wackest thing about the mpc. I Wish the edit menu was mo' user friendly.

yeah but go to the copy bars screen once you are in step edit and it is all way easy. doing 14 tracks one at a time is a waste.
