3000 CF Reader Feedback

I must admit, that there's a cheaper way to get one pretty solid in your beloved 3000. For me the CF card reader from scsiforsamplers.com as wayy to expensive for such a simple device, so I've looked around and bought one from http://www.theslot.spirythm.com/ . I had a nice opportunity to get fresh new unpacked one from my friend, that won one in beat making contest for around 60$. Don't see at "for akai mpc 2000xl". I've took the risk, and it's working fine with my sweetie - mpc 3000. Nothing modded, everything what you need is already in the box, so the choice belongs to you.

That "Slot" thing is just another IDE card reader and does not work on the MPC3000. You are certainly entitled to your opinion on our prices but don't tell people to go and buy "The Slot" when it won't work on their MPC3000. Those only work with the XL because they are IDE and require the sampler have an internal IDE bus. Only the MPC2000XL can use a drive like that.

I know, that man from the service added this card reader and swear, that this is really working. The card reader itself is mounted on the place of the old floppy drive. From the card reader it goes a ribbon to some ide/scsi adapter, and the next ribbon is going dunno where. I will post some photos and info, when the machine will be at my place again. I trust that man, and his state. If he told me, that this is actually a working machine, and the cf reader is working, then I will say the same. The machine should be at my place in Thursday or friday this week, or on monday in next week.

Dunno... maybe you'll ask him, if you are so sceptic? I've said. The machine will be at my place - i will look and test. Now I can only believe the guy, that did this mod.

Oldskull, Are you certain you have a 3000 and not a 2000xl?

Do you think, that I don't even know on what equipment I'm working on ? I'm waiting for the package from another country almost 11 days. Maybe it will be on monday. I'm quite nervous, cause It was meant to be at Wednesday, and shit showed up. No damn package.

He just explained why it works and it should work fine. That is the same design as our CF-CARD drive - an IDE card reader that is attached to an IDE to SCSI adapter. We have refined it into a very nice little package where the SCSI adapter card is mounted piggyback on the rear of the CF card bracket and the whole thing mounts as one piece, just like a floppy or zip drive. And this type of setup is very fast, about 50% faster than the Spyrus drives.

I thought that might be the deal so that is why I asked for further info. That type of arrangement can work very well, as our CF-CARD drive has been a huge success. Of course, it is not hot-swappable but Oldskull, if you can live without that feature, it should be very cool.

I would like to give everyone more information, but I really can't. I'm waiting for the package with my mpc 3000, and I'm quite worried. Finally today the man emailed me, but he's acting strange, showing me some "photos" of "my" mpc 3000 and he's telling me, that the post service damaged the unit. But it ain't looking like my baby. I have a bad feeling about this... . The photos are presenting totally **** up mpc 3000 without buttons (some of them are color changed places), with damaged metal casing and fu*ked up lcd screen. If it's really my unit, I'll kill someone...
