certain sounds cutting out on playback?

i have a guitar looping continously,and when i drop hi hats it jst plays a little part of guitar loop, another bug? **** 1 thing after another with this shit...?

Are you using up all 32 notes of your poly? Sounds like it is likely, but hard to say from your description.

not sure,do u mean its best to put everythin.. including kicks etc, into mono? ive only changed a few thing into mono,so i can hit a sample pad multiple times,cheers anyway,ill look into it...

You're probably talking about a different mono than I am.

The mono you are referring to is likely in the program section for wether it is mono or poly. This controls if you are able to play the sample multiple times on top of each other, poly can use up a lot of polyphony if you are not careful.

The mono I am referring to is wether the sample is recorded as one channel (mono) or two channels (stereo). A stereo sample will use up 2 notes of polyphony while a mono sample will use up one.

Oh this is the topic I'm on as well, like my sequences are done and when finishing up the song I convert it into the sequence.. though the play back has taken out some of my samples....
so is the answer about poly and mono in programs setting for the samples....? not all of them should be poly right? because that's what I got all of them on.

Put all the samples you can into mono. Only use poly if the sample has different things going on in the left and right. The 500 can only play 32 mono samples at once. If one is set on poly that subtracts two from the overall number of samples it can play at once.

-__- remade a whole new song and made it all to mono, recording every single sample on a different track... no over dubs and all... my bass turns to kicks and high hats to claps (No efx added).... it seems to still
I read the *Note* in Akai500 manual & it says

"When you convert a song, the specific settings used in each track within the sequence, such as track type, MIDI channel settings, selecting of the program, etc, will be set to the values from the sequence in the first step of the original song. If the track settings of sequences in other steps are different from those in the step 1, the song may not be converted properly."

I sorta caught what this meant....

It means...

If Sequence 1 has the following
Track 1 -> Kick Program
Track 2 -> Snare Program
Track 3 -> Hi Hat Program

Sequence 2 has the following
Track 1 -> Kick Program
Track 2 -> Hi Hat Program
Track 3 -> Snare Program

Then when you render the song to a new sequence you get the first sequence playing correctly, but the second sequence will have the programs of Track 2/3 reversed. In this case, it would be easier to swap Track 2/Track 3 to be in the same position as they are in Sequence 1 for Sequence 2.

The MPC 500 can only have one program setting for each track, when you merge them together in this way it will use whatever the program setting was for the first sequence. As you may imagine, this can get very complicated if each sequence has different track program settings... you are much better off to keep the same program on each track if possible.

yeh i was talking program>poly for the samples.ive jst used alot of samples from chopped up stuff in audacity mainly,unless i can save wavs to mono from audacity,i dnt know a way in the mpc itself.?

also sum track are fine until i drop the master eq on,then i get sounds cutting out on playback.this is when im try to piece 2gether a track in song mode?

The way to make a mono sample on the MPC 500 is a bit cumbersome...

1) Load stereo sample
2) Assign to pad
3) Enter record mode
4) Set record mode to mono L or Mono R
5) Set record mode to master
6) Start recording a sample
7) Trigger the pad
8 ) Stop sampling
9) Name the Sample
10) Go to Trim mode, and trim the sample down
11) Normalize the sample if necessary
12) Go to Program Mode
13) Replace the original stereo sample with your new mono sample
14) Drink a beer, you deserve it

Are you using an EQ gain that is causing you to clip?

Havin a similar problem.
note* im not using the mpc audio. The mpc 500 is my master midi sequencer.

Making a one sequence song, repeating the sequence multiple times and converting back to sequence does work but creating a song from multiple different sequences and converting back to sequence ( the way the manual suggests does not work. only plays one sequence. the clock is still going but triggers nothing.

I have seen a couple people post about this issue in the forum but no one has a real answer yet ...

btw. all tracks are the same in the sequences ( the sequences are just copies of each other / all lined up )

Iv'e read the manual several times and tried this on several different days. if i have to hook up an mmt8 in the chain well that would inspire me to sell the 500. right now the work around is bouncing audio to DAW. ... i was trying to quit the DAW habbit.

Can anyone confirm that this is a os bug ?

Does any one who works at Akai ever actually help people on this forum ?
