just from the picture i'd say they're identical.

monowax is right - yes, it will work in your MPC2000XL. You will have to install os version 1.20 and you will be limited to using 1GB CF cards but it will work.

1GB will do me for now, thanks for the heads up though as somewhere down the track ill probably get one from scsiforsamplers.com just didn't have the money right now.

it will propably work, but the MPC uses a 40 pin IDE cable so it won't fit straight away

The MPC2000XL has a 40-pin IDE connector inside, so all you'd need to hook up this drive is a standard IDE cable. The drive will work with a 40 or 44-pin interface but is set up to use a 40-pin cable and a floppy power plug, just like the one already in your XL (assuming that you don't have a zip drive installed instead of a floppy drive - if you do, you'd need a power plug adapter). Just ordered it, need to find the ide 40 pin cable though.

ok so i got my reader now what do i mount it on for it to fit? it doesn't have a place to screw in like the floppy drive did so do i need to buy something to mount it on for it to fit?

i ended up getting one from scsi which fits perfect - your only real option would be to drill some holes in it to make it fit, i myslef couldnt be bothered and didnt have a drill anywhere anyway hopefully you can work something out.

We sell an inexpensive install kit for the IDE card readers. It has an IDE ribbon cable with the unblocked connectors on each end, so you don't have to worry about that, and it has an extension for the power cable, as well as both floppy-type and Molex power plugs on the end. Plus instructions on installing the IDE card reader into your XL. You can see it on this page:
