MPC 2000XL Synced To Roland VS840/880

2000XL newb here---Any users having or had success with syncing (MMC) a MPC 2000XL with one of the older Roland VS840/880 digital multitracks? Any thoughts or alternative suggestions are appreciated.

Looking to use VS as a scratchpad for vocal ideas when working with the MP. Trying to avoid firing up the computer every time.

That was my set up for a long time (MPC2000 and VS 880EX). The VS didnt like being slaved for some reason but as the master everything worked fine.

Yeah, it's not written in stone that the mpc is best being the master. I think more hype put it in that arena. I've always preferred slaving my drum sequences, got too use to using midi time code.

So are you guys using the midi clock or MTC settings on the Sync In page when slaving the MP to a master? Thanks.
