MIDI to software sequncer?

is it possible or how would i connect a sp 505 to coputer running a software sequencer so when i press play on the 505 the software sequencer will play also

midi in and midi out connected to the pc. You have to set your midi options in the progrm and youll be straight. What type of sound card do you have in your Pc?

well i was wondering for my bro cuz he wants to get some equipment for cheap and i thought that the 505 would work well with a comp cuz its major con is 4 tracks and if you recorded to the pc then you could have way more tracks but youd have to have them midied to get them to paly together but i got an mpc 1k and an edirol pcr 50 that has a little midi interface on it.
