one thing : isolate it from other midi devices, it just create mess if you place the juno somewhere in a daisy chain : just have a midi in and out for him on your mpc and you will be fine.

How do you use the Moog with the MP? You go direct into it or through a DAW?

Have any stuff you have made with the Moog i could listen to?

i use my mac to record and mix on protools, no midi.

my midi setup is hardware only :
mpc 4000
in I and out A : Roland Juno 106
in II : midi solutions quadra merge http://www.midisolutions.com/prodqmr.htm
in quadra merge : little phatty and midi keyboard
out B : little phatty
out C : doesn't work !
out D : S900 thru to vintage keys thru to s3000xl thru to s2800

i'd say i use the lil phatty 70% for bass and 30% for leads.

i dont own an analog or va type synth. i have a motif xs6 and have owned all 3 of the major workstations in the past. i feel i need to chime in here.........get something thats fun! i hardly use my workstation and i for sure dont take advantage of all its features. the simpler - more fun - the better in my opinion.

i have a friend who owns a little phatty and whenever i go to his house, i have a blast and get major envy. anyways, just think about simplicity when you picking. it aint always about the most features, you need to have fun making sounds, ya know!

Sadly... not that many years ago I probably would have thought about picking one of those up. The last four years I've been really thinning my gear down though. I could still manage to do some more pruning, but I'm pretty happy with what I have and a couple of pieces are sentimental and still produce good sounds... so hard to let a couple of the ones go that probably aren't *that* great.

that's what i love with the phatty and the juno : they sound great AND they are easy to use

Yup, definitely agree with this. Its took me a while but ive finally began to realise how much more creative simplicity can be...

I picked up a Dave Smith MoPho Keyboard and it's a great addition to my setup. Does great leads and Bass and it has a great arpeggiator. I'm new to analog synth and this has really helped me understand how synthesis works and I'm already getting better sounds out of my soft synths because of this. Plus you could add a Mopho desk top or a tetra and make it a polyphonic synth, so there is the ability to upgrade. I sold my MPC and now have the following to stream down the lab a bit

Ableton Live
Maschine
Dave Smith MoPho Keyboard (I also use it as a midi controller)
Novation Launchpad


I Love the Dave Smith and I'm thinking about picking up a MPC500 because I travel a lot and it would be nice to be able to make beats on the plane. The laptop is actually a pain in the a** for this, unless you fly first class. I don't

It's ok,but not all that....after I did a A-B test of the 2 I found the Micron sounds just as good as the Moog and it's more stable....just turn it on and go. The Moog has to warm up and depending on your room you'll get a different sound every time ,and that's cool if that's something you don't mind
