The mv-8000 is crazy, the way it lets you put together a song is so easy.
I dont know if Akai could top that machine.

I've seen it and read up on it but don't know anyone around my way with one, but for real the MV-8000 is a beast .I would love to cop one to use with the mpc but i just can't afford that right now.I think the lowest one i've seen was around 2g's(ouch)Sooner or later though i plan on gettin' anything i can get my hands on and that is definitely on the list.

Peace.

While the MV is indeed a powerful machine, it seems rather cheesy to me that Roland has ripped off another idea, only to make some modifications to it and call it an original product. I think it has a lot of potential, but c'mon....the thing looks like a 2000 with a bigger LCD....get real...

the fact that it has pads and samples and sequences is where the simularities end. The mv is a monster. I have been looking at them for a long time. you can get them for $1799 new and now they come with a vga port so you can connect a vga and use a mouse with it. wow.

the MV is THE best thing on the market right now, no offence, but NO mpc is touching it, not even 3 mpc's midi'd up can come close

I must say for the price and what they give ya, the mv is the best thing on the market right now for somebody starting out with nothing. I mean the mv looks like mpc but thats only to get skeptics to buy it but from what im seeing thats under the hood of the mv thats where the power is. If i had nothing i would get one just because if you dont have ac computer to record you can use the 8 audio tracks on it. The seq isnt the same as the mpc but from what i have seen on the videos you can get around that and get use to it very easy. One reason i wont get a mv and sale my mpc is just because of what i aready have. I have a motif and nord lead rack. I also have strong laptop computer with nuendo and the motu 828 so no matter what i would pretty much not use the 8 audio tracks for anything worth using them for. The mpc 2k xl compare to the mv or 4k is out dated but if you make keyboard beats and sometimes sample beats a 2k xl is all you need cause the better you get at playing things correct or differently the lest youll need techy toys to do edits or what not for you. I dont think the mv is gona make your music better but it will make doing something easier. I use the mpc for the seq and drum hits...so im not to gun hole for everything else that comes with it hell im not even gun hole for thd 4k also. I do all my sound tweaking on mhy computer and as new plugins or software programs come out it will always cost me less to upgrade while whats in the mv is whats in the mv/ Effects are good but its not a good thing to track a beat into software with the effects on so only if you are doing all on the mv will the effects really come into affect. Now days all these things can do so much but i always look to the past and just the fact the reason i got into music was because of guys who was using less. Im into sound now days than im into tech specs. The 3k is so love because of its sound not because of its tech specs.

In conclusion, I have to say that the Akai MPC 2k xl is a great piece of gear. Not because it can or cant do everything and has or dont have a million functions, but because its designers have thought out very thoroughly what it ought to be able to do, and then have made it do it as simply as possible. I can't promise that it can replace your high-end computer sequencer, because you will probably have become used to the facilities it offers, but you must consider whether all that extra baggage is weighing you down, because contained inside the mpc 2k xl there may be everything you need.

I got the xl and a little table EQ. Nothing else besides my records of course.. No sound modules, no keyboards , no computer stuff, nothing. And I can make pretty much anything I need to with it.

The mv probably is a very good machine, but I see no reason for buying it to use with the mpc.. I think it's better to know one machine inside out than to know three machines vaguely.

But hey, if you've got gear lust then nothing can stop ya.

the mv is just packed with a whole bunch of shit that i dont even need.. same with the mpc4k... i would never invest money in either of these machines cuz i will probably use like 20% of its options...i hardly even use the mpc2kxl for more than the pads and the sequencer..

Same over here! Sometimes people get the mpc cause they think its gona make there music better over all. I got the mpc cause i just wanted a drum machine that i could always put new drums sounds in it when ever i wanted. The mv and 4k are more like keyboard workstations with out keys they are built to do it all. Back in 1997 the xl was close to that standard but alot has change now a days but instead of putting you 2kxl on ebay to get what ever is new i would just buy a computer with maybe a copy soundforge and your good. The xl is what you surround it with. Now days by itself its weak but put the right tools around it and its just as powerful.
