My MPC 1000 is Shorting out... Any ideas?

My MPC has a funny short circuit problem: Turns on fine, but too much banging on it causes it to short out. Not just turning off, but reading as an Error message. I definitely think it's a hardware issue because I've reinstalled the OS (jjos 1) and the problem persists. Any really smart people out there have Insight for me? If you need more info just ask. Thanks in advance.

If you have a ram chip installed, that could be it. Make sure that it is securely seated properly. If it is, then try taking it out and testing the mpc to see if the error pops up.

Crack it open and check all the connections are secure.
