Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey All,

I've got my first MPC2000XL (with the multi card reader) coming in within the next month or so and I have a few of questions.
1. Are samples able to loaded directly into the SD/CF card, bypassing the internal 32MB flash (for more sampling time)?
2. Can more than one memory card be used at once?
3. What is the maximum size of memory card that can be read my the MPC?

I forgot some other questions, but I'm sure they come back to me later.

Thanks in advance.

1. when you load samples from the card they go from the card to the ram. when you're recording samples they're in the ram until you save them to the card. with 32mb you're still able to sample A LOT (+3 minutes), you'll find you don't sample more than 20 seconds at the very most. this can't be bypassed.
2. yes, you can swap and change (how else would people using floppies be able to load up multiple things? loaded samples go the RAM).
3. 1gb max i believe (at least for CF cards).

Not all Card Readers support hot swapping of flash cards.

The IDE cardreaders are not hotswapable.

The Atapi readers are very hard to get these days and are hot swapable.

Some AKAI related sites dare to sell IDE readers for double the price that an average computer hardware store would sell them for just to cash in on unexperienced AKAI users.

Usually u can use up to 1gb,i think the MPC 2000 MCD takes up to 2gb.

Note: with 2 gb sandisk cards your always good to go,no matter IDE or ATAPI as they don“t make 1 gb cards no more. They come cheap on ebay as long as you keep the letters MPC out of your search. Cause then you pay twice the money theay actually worth.
