how to connect xr20 to mpc?

Can anybody help me connect my XR 20 to my MPC 1000? I've read both manuals and I can't get it to work. I'd like for the mpc to be the master and the xr20 to be the slave. Any help would be appreciated (especially step by step, since I'm new to this.) Thanks!

get a MIDI CABLE


Hook one end to a "MIDI OUT" on your mpc 1000 then hook the other end to the "MIDI IN" on the xr 20

go to the midi menu on the mpc 1000 & make sure the midi out jack you chose is set to send the midi info out


navigate to the midi menu on the xr 20 and make sure it is set to receive the incoming midi data from the mpc 1000


Make sure your xr 20 is hooked up to speakers or plug in headphones as the sound will still be coming from the xr 20 , the mpc 1000 will be like a wired remote control

You dudes are looking in my window! I am visiting my cousin and he has my original 2000XL and has the XR-20 and wants me to help him hook it up. And I asked him why he bought it and he has an MPC. Then I was going to buy it off of him to sample the sounds and then sell it!! But now I don't need to!!

Thanks dude! I'm gonna try to download it when I get home. I bought it used so I'm gonna keep it. It still nice and simple to make beats on.

The sounds are cool, I think the week it dropped the sounds got raped and sprayed on the interwebz

The sounds are decent, but not worth the bills they are asking for it. I think if they had cut it half the price by dropping the pads/sequencer and made it more of a sound/fx module for an MPC it'd be more interested.
