idea i just experimented with!! CHECK IT!!

So i dont know if this has been tried before or not, I was just messing around tonight and tried something out. what i did was....

1)just took a random track of mine and opened it into Audacity and made a copied stereo track of the file

2)i panned the original file 50% to the left and then i panned the copied stereo file 50% to the right

3) then i mixed them together and it sounded to me, like the track got LOUDER or EXPANDED, but nothing distorted.

i went back and compared the original track by itself compared to the audacity version and the audacity mixer version sounded a lot better to me.


has anyone tried this before? im just throwing the idea out there in case some of you would like to try it?

you just doubled up the tracks making it louder... if the original mix was done hot enough it would have clipped.

Yes you just layerd audio. Also depending on your stereo pan law setting the output varies.
