switching to jjos2 after one year on jjos1

hi

year ago i bought mpc1000 with jjos1 1.49 already on. It was my first mpc, really happy with that, so I was thinking that I will first learn on that and than upgrade to jjos2, because I didn't see the difference between os1 and os2 at that time. Now I realized, that I would already should upgrade to jjos2, because already understand it well and missing some features from jjos2, so I did, but than lot of my projects sounds really wrong when I load them. Probably problem is in velocities or levels of tracks or samples, filters maybe sound different too, audio tracks are not load in it and so on.

So question is, is there some step by step guide what to look on and change to make it as before, I just don't want to work on each project for hours again to make it sounds good. I see for example, that audio tracks are not loaded, although their names are in the name of track now, so I can look and load them according that, but how with levels and so. Or just list of thing which are changed after upgrading ll help too.

I think there were posts about this very issue many months ago when JJOS2 came out. There are a lot of tweaks that need to be made to the envelopes (amplitude/filter), MIDI notes are off by one and a few other tweaks need to be made. If memory serves me correctly it is a lot of work. I also sort of recall one of the paramemters (volume?) being set to 1 sometimes which made a sample sound like it wasn't playing at all. This is all a few years back though, so I'm kind of rusty on all the details.

Best bet... when booting you can switch between OS1/OS2 when working on different projects. So you might want to make an OS1 projects directory to work on the old projects. Then as you are able/have the time to migrate them to OS2 you can make an OS2 directory for your new OS2 projects. I am afraid that you may not be able to get the two to sound exactly the same, but if you search through the forum you can probably get some good notes on what people had done back in the day to get them as close as possible.

yeah, u are right, it's actually not as big problem as I was thinking before. I will just start to do new things in os2 and old continue in os1. Or I will just forget about old shit and finally start my new big era of megastar producer .;]]]

But anyway I was trying to search for some posts about it whole morning here and than in google and couldn't find anything, but I don't use it here as much, so probably don't know which phrases use or where to search (tried to put words compatibility and switching jjos1 to jjos2 and lot of others possibilities and mostly it was all about compatibility of different mpc machines, not jj systems). Would be just good to know what exactly be careful or what to change, now I just now that it is shit, so I try to look more tomorrow.

No problem... try searching in just the JJOS forum for starters. Not sure what a good search term is, but maybe using words like "migration, convert, conversion, jjos1, jjos2" etc. There were similar topics posted about going from JJOS2 to JJOS2XL as well... good luck!
