Stereo samples

hiya.
1st post, so please be gentle!
I'm loving stereo samples, including drum hits, but as yet the only way i've found of playing them is by assigning them to two adjacent pads, panning L & R and sequencing them to play simultaneously. Now, this works, but it uses up a lot of pads, and means i can't play the sounds live with one hit.
It would be far better if i could put both sounds (L&R) into two of the four 'slots' on each pad, and pan them individually, but it doesn't have any panning options in that bit.
any ideas?

whilst i'm on, could someone briefly explain the difference in the JJ OS, or where i can go for info?

U can only adjust panning for the whole pad, not each layer individually. With one of the jjos versions u have the pad simult function which allows u to trigger multiple pads assigned to the same simult group by pressing one of the pads.

so i can sync, for example, [pad 1, left sample, panned left],
with [pad 17/33/49, right sample, panned right]
but only by purchasing JJOS version 1 for $49.

Do many people use stereo samples? or am i on my own?
I'm a bit new to samples, but totally love the 'space' in stereo samples.
is that what the pad sync is for, or is it more for when you run out of layers?

do i understand you correctly? you compose stereo samples out of a left and right sample to create a new stereo field?

or do you just want to use stereo samples with your mpc?

Maybe you mean that you want to Chop and use stereo samples? The 2500 does play stereo samples.

You can convert from mono to stereo in the 2kxl. Considering that the 2500 is newer than the 2k, this should be a simple operation. Right?

it all started with some sample cd's i got with my 2500, some of which were :"
"[sample name] L"
"[sample name] R"

loaded onto separate pads/channels, then panned & played simultaneously they sound great, really 3d.

I'm planning on recording my own stereo samples using 2 mics, but need to get this sorted 1st.

doesn't the 2500 effectively have 64 mono channels, pannable L or R, a bit like a live desk?
