Going from Logic 9 to Pro Tools.

Hello.
Recently I bought Logic 9 and upgraded it to Logic 9.1
In both of this versions I get very annoying bugs. In Logic 9 it crashes sometimes when I try to record new takes and in Logic 9.1 it stops my beat saying system is overloaded.
I upgraded from "demo"(you know what I mean...) to Logic 9 to get all the samples etc., but it's mostly apple loops which I won't use anytime soon. Most of the time I'm stuck in Reason and I just can't get used to all Logic instruments. Not telling that I don't like it, but damn I hate it that it is not stable. Pro Tools is somehow considered to be industry standard so it's good to know it anyway, but my final question is about its stability. So is it stable?
Share your opinions and try to not make another Logic Pro Tools war 'cus that's not the point. Thanks.
I have 2.4 Ghz 2gb ram Mac.

r you using to many plugs? if so protools will give you the same message.check your buffer size and check into getting more memory.

I have logic and protools. Logic is stable. In fact I would jump ship and be Logic only but I'm too much invested (HD setup) in pro tools and it's easier to exchange files with other people I work with as they all use pro-tools. If your having problems with logic I would check your setup. What Operating system levels, patches, etc. Are you running it in 64 bit mode? Which Processor do you have? 2gb of ram is not enough ram. You need at least 4gb of ram. What other programs do you have installed? What interface are you using? Too many things to go into but you should be able to figure it out.

Logic is quite a stable program.

The issue will probably be the spec or setup of your Mac as the others have said.

Using unlicensed software is always asking for trouble.

This is incorrect. Minimum spec for Logic is 1GB. Though they recommend 2GB or more.

If you are not using an eternal HardDrive to save your Multitrack recordings onto, it is very possible that it crashes from time to time.
One HD (internal) for system and programs. One HD (external) for recordings.

Shimmy, just a thought ... You siad in another post that you are about to get your first 'legit' Reason 5.

Am I wrongly assuming that you have been using a pirated version of Reason with your legit Logic ? If so, this could be the root cause of your problem - Pirated version are often embedded with a viral type code file that gets around software security. it could be a case of Logic saying '**** it' to the other program.

Logic is prolly the second most use daw in the bizz. Check the bufferos and get a legit version.

Logic is very stable, my advice to u is to do 4 rams. and check your buffer size, there are draw backs for increasing buffer size tho.

If i was you , to take advantage off logics full power get a late 08- early 09 mac pro 4 core,you wont worry for noting then .

2 rams gets you buy barely get 4 you would see a diffrence, get a quad and its a new game.

inthemix - the problem is nearly gone, 'cus I bought Imac with 4gb ram. I still don't have legit Reason, but it's on the way. My Logic is legit 2.
What I observed is that when I go from one instrument to another my CPU usage jumps very high and then it's nearly not noticeable. I'm using Live mode for Rewire programs, so it uses higher CPU power, but gives less latency.
I pretty much like Logic and since the problem(s) is(are) gone I'm not even thinking about switch. Thanks for the input anyway

Logic is very stable to many but very unstable for many others, even people using systems with specs well above the suggested or minimum requirements. A quick search via Google or such will make this claim very clear. It's cool that your issues where mostly resolved. I'm still waiting to see if my woes with Logic 9 will be resolved once I get my Mac back from Apple (which is brand new mind you and gets no errors when running neither Live 8, Pro Tools, nor the rest of the Logic Studio bundle).

I've had that same error, as can be seen here. Though my system is much higher than required by Logic, to be fair, my issues may or may not be hard drive related. When stable Logic has a lot to offer. Unfortunately some people never figure out these errors even when their systems are fine.
