I know pound aint talkin out of his ass. Dude gave me more helpful advice than ANYONE on the forums, hands down. (Big ups Pound! You gotta give me some info on how you use the A2D in your productions homie...)

I listened to a couple of other cats around here and copped the M97XE's and some Ortofon Q-Berts....I felt really let down. Both of them did the job, but not as well as the M44-7's...

I ALWAYS use M44-7's. The others have been sitting on the shelf for 6+ months. Like pound said earlier, clean records are more important than fancy needle/cart combos.

I work in a music store now and this is what I tell every DJ cat that comes in. I dont make commission, so I dont care what they buy. M44-7's get the job done and get it done really well.

if vinyl sounds a little too bright (and with weird sibilance), and has relatively little bass, does that mean the needle needs replacing?

you would have to run a comparison on another TT with a different needle to be really sure.

It's always possible that the record was made a little too hot, all records have this issue for you, or just one in particular?

Also could be a long shot, but you sure it's not the amp? Not all amps have a good frequency eq or match the specifications properly when boosting the bass back into the mix. It is possible that the amplification system isn't as good as you may want/need.

yeah all of them (some a little more though)
im going to make sure its not the amp! (but im pretty sure its not that. i assume id best turn it down a lot (and the source too), im going to send my laptops sound via jack-to-rca to the rca phono in)
its my parents turntable, i dont think they changed the needle once in the last 20 years :p but they play mostly CDs.. so its just a guess that its the needle

oh yeah, although the records a quite clean, im hearing the 'dirt' pretty loud..
2nd oh yeah: im noticing the counterweight of the 'arm' has a little spring pulling it down (so making the needle lighter im guessing) that also is 20+ years old.. any connection? i think it cant be as strong as in the beginning..
3rd oh yeah: its not the amp i plugged in my laptop and got LOUD and bass-distorted sound!

which arkiv joint can I use with a Gemini XL500 II; have a Shure SC35C in there now bought the thing used 8 years ago came with that cart/needle and i was told by a guy at daddys that they need to see what kind i have to let me purchase it by stating all carts/needles arent the same and wont fit in all TT..
