I'm wondering how I can record each track into separate tracks(IE Drums, Keys, Bass, Sample)
and If i can do it with a VLZ 1202 into a PC..
I am guessing I would Need to change my sound card/interface (which is a measly soundblaster augigy zs 2 plat. )
or upgrade into a multi-track recorder?

I usually use MPC > Mixer > PC, which gives me 1 stereo track into Audition. I would like to separate it a little to play with the sequences a bit more than just using track mute.

If I need to upgrade, which would ya'll suggest say between prices of 150-450 - I would like to keep it low as possible, trying to save cash but if it gives me what I want, I will buy and work with it..

Thanks for your time.

Happy 4th Everyone!

Whatever you go with, make sure it has at least 8 or more analog input channels.

I'd probably look at some m-audio s/c's, or maybe even a used rme interface if you can find one cheap.

now im looking at the M-Audio Delta 1010 s/c (Not the interface) I see it has 6 rca females..

it would seem I have to get TRS > RCA Males - does this sacrifice any quality?

cant find used rme interfaces around here...

TRS used as balanced mono will give a better signal than RCA, as a balanced signal is less noisy. TRS used as unbalanced stereo, going to a pair of RCA, should not lose any quality.

Strictly speaking, every connection between two contact points introduces a small degradation in quality, because the jacks are never perfect conductors.

Yeah, I agree that having the ability to capture your performances independently track by track, then mute edit in your daw is quicker and much easier.
