Pretty sure B. Cox has an endorsement deal with Native Instruments so, JD probably got it for free....Not to mention, $600 is not really a big deal to him!!!!

That was terrible and Im sure somebody will pay $100 grand for that hot garbage.

nothing so exciting there. also didnt look like he was sampling anything. looks like he was triggering samples from the machines rather than sampling the sounds from the machine.

lol sometimes when I try to get something going on the mp and it sucks, I jump around to give the illusion that it sounds good and hope that the next bar sounds better after listening to it 300 times

LOL, thats true.

But lets be honest, even if he jumps around all day and night for a week, he isn't fooling anybody.

You are right he isn't sampling anything to the mpc 60. He is using the mpc 60 as his main sequencer and the maschine as a sample rack. All of the sounds are actually on the PC itself. But it is a popular combo mpc as sequencer and your favorite virtual sampler or synth (battery, konkact, exs24, live or maschine main difference is the great library that comes with maschine and the editing ease.


True I heard better jd production along with his partner no id I suspect turn him on to maschine a good unit in it's own right.

I read jd's book, it was a good book


I think though this video of him in the studio making a beat is pretty typical of what most of us go through yet not on camera. It is usually alot of trial & error trying different sound combinations out alot of repetion on patterns

most of the time the process should not be shown, have you never bounced to an unfinished track only to delete it 5 minutes later & start over, I have plenty of times, just did not have a video camera recording it & posting it online as if it was the finished product.


JD has proven himself time & time again and that track in no way sounds like a so so def end product , it was just a glimpse into his process
