I recently bought the mpc 4000 and i'm trying to get the sound to work. I am a total noob at this and would appreciate any help. I read the manual and did what it told me to do to make the pads to work which is; Load... select a program from the mpc hrdrive.. then go back to main and scroll down to the Out PART 1 Program section and load the program. I'm just trying to get the sound to work from the pads, if anyone can help me with Step by step instructions, i would appreciate it. I'd be happy if i just got the sound to work. Thanks.

do you have speakers connected? headphones? if so where are they connected. Do you have samples loaded that you know 100% that they work? do you have the volume of the mpc turned up? there are so many possibilities.

do a search around the 4000 section... many people have posted threads like yours.

well... have you ever tried using an ipod with no headphones? how about a computer with no sound blaster? did you ever throw a cd into your stereo but you never connected the speakers?

sound dont come out of thin air... so you better get yourself a good pair of midi headphones.

That would be cool though, an mpc with built in speakers...

It might be a laughing matter now, but the kat that makes this happen will be the one smiling...all the way to the bank.
