ive seen ppl do this before, instead of setting their bpm to 92 (which is what their tempo really is) to 184 ,and then laying down their chops ,dont know what the point is but it might have something to do with how their kicks and snares swing ,anyone heard of this technique ?

I hear of folks doing this but I rather keep it simple, without the shortcuts and whatnot.

Most MPCs only have 96 ppqn. If you double your tempo you end up with 192 ppqn, so the notes will have twice as many places that they can land without being quantized as much.

wow,never knew that...so that probably explains it ,how certain beatmakers can cram a whole lot of kicks inbetween 2 snares and not sound out of place ,giving it that mid 90s sound .never thought of that,thanks !
