i dont have much of a vinyl collection, but sometimes i search on the internet for certain records that i got.

i recently searched for one of them and it turns out it's quite rare, i bought it for 20p and people are selling it on the internet for like £5 (seen a 45 single of one of the songs on the lp going for £40)

i know £5 aint much but i didnt realise it was worth more than 20p when i bought it,

some of the worse songs i've ever heard on that record :o ......few good samples though

who knows, i might even have more that i just havent searched for yet

I don't have any records that are like commonly known as rare (I realize that sounds like a contradiction  )...

But I do have some records that I figured no one else on earth would think to check for samples on...

I actually picked up a record the other day... This country record... Had this awesome loop on it... Now knowing that a lot of people sleep on country I figured it prolly wouldn't be found...

My bro had a dream two nights ago that it was already used in something... And yesterday, he listened to the new Masta Ace album and there was my exact loop... Killed me...

The worst part is that my beat was a thousand times better... The one Masta Ace used made the sample sound all clean with this clean a$$ kick underneath it...

Mine had some grit with some Boom Bap drums... It just killed me... I wouldn't have been pissed if it were produced better than I had produced it, but it was just an insult that it was used horribly...

Don't get me wrong... The new Masta Ace album is heat... With some tight production, but that particular track was weak...

Maybe I'm biased...

well I don't really have any gems or anything, but I usually check out the going prices for any records I find. The best value I got was a record that I paid 2 euros for that went for over 20 euros, not anything major but still good.

I have almost all of the (Finnish funk/jazz/soul label) TIMMION's 7"s and some of them have been going for big prices on ebay, like $100 and up. Won't ever sell 'em tho!

damn thats a ****.

what song is it though?

it's a shame you both used it in the same way, because i personally would go ahead with the same sample if i was flippin it differently.

Yea I would've gone ahead with the sample if I flipped it different as well... But I mean the sample is a straight loop... Choppin it up has no possibilities cause it's too fluent... It would sound like sh*t choppin it up (I tried, but came to a dead end)... It's just a perfect loop that I laced a fat a$$ drum track over...

The only difference between my beat and the Masta Ace version was the drums and the fact that whoever produced ithad some professional players play on top of the sample... There's a guitar line in the Masta Ace version that you can tell was played seperately...

My beat had a little Rhodes sample on the hook which was different as well...

What frustrates me is that this is one of my best beats in a while... And it kills me that like if I were to sell it I'd be seen as a biter or jacker... I might just sell it to some cat that I have no intentions of ever talkin to again...

Either that or tell them cats upfront... Yo this sample was used on the last Masta Ace album, but I laced it better... If they still wanna buy it it's on them...

I mean I made the track before I knew... I don't have any guilt, but it still sucks when you get beat to the punch...

What I gotz:

12 inch - Billy Squier - "Big Beat (Promo white label)" - (Paid 99 cents-In mint condition its worth $290. But since I was a knuckledhead dj in my youth, I tagged all over it with "hip-hop break" and ruined it)

12 inch - Rolling Stones - "Miss You (Extended version)" - Pink vinyl - (paid 2 british pounds-just picked that up 3 weeks ago before I left for Texas--- worth $75)

I could go on for hours but I got to run to the store and get another 40 before they close.

one...............

I'm not sure how rare it is (maybe someone can clue me in) but i have an original pressing of the funky drummer reprise. I know the funky drummer is fairly common, but i have a '72 pressing of the reprise from A Jungle Groove.... which is pretty much just the break for like 10 minutes with a couple James Brown "uh's" and "aha's" on it.

I also have some fairly rare Blackbyrds stuff and some worthy Soul Avenger 45's........
