That's why for most people it's a part time/ Hobby. It's hard work to make a real living off music.

I suspect imageline knows that piracy will exist and people will always pirate either way and they would rather people be pirating their stuff then a rival DAW. Even microsoft admits that one... they have openly said that out of the people using pirated OSs... they would rather that OS be theirs.
