Manual doesn't really explain

I have an mpc 1000, which I just got a few days ago. I have been reading the manual and looking on the web for tips tricks and information to learn as quickly as I can but some things I just can't figure out...

One
when I create a beat...then I save the beat as a sequence...I turn of my mpc...and when I turn the MPC back on and load that sequence I push play..but I can't here anything...so I have to go back and reload every pad in the same spot as they were when I first made the beat so I can finally hear the beat..the loading and saving process for me is quite hard right now...and I don't think it should be this difficult...

Second...
when I am starting a new beat the only way I can program pads or even hear pads is if Im in a specific preset program...but I want to start from scratch and set it all up myself....

Finally...
my autoload folder must have been deleted...is there anyway to get this back...and if not how bad is it that it's gone...

For the saving problem, create a newfolder then go to save all option and hit do it. Now all your sequences, samples and programs are saved in that folder. When you go to load it, make sure you load the proj file and not the folder. It seems there is less errors that way.

With the second problem, im not quite understanding what you are asking.

A 'beat' inside the mpc contains three things:

Sequence data; the pattern you program with all midi events, called the sequence

Program: ur 'palet' that holds all ur samples with assigned params like pitch and volume

Samples.

So when u save a beat u have to make sure u have saved all these three things, preferebly in the same folder. U can save the whole project at once too. I always save my sequences and programs individually. When u save a program it automaticaly saves the samples assigned to that specific program.

That's right, assigned. U have to assign samples to an empty program.(u can convert sliced samples directly into a new program) I'd suggest u read more about making programs and how to assign samples to a program. Also make sure u read the introduction to get familiair with the mpc terms.

By default Autoload loads from the MPC's internal flash memory, but it can be disabled, so the data might still be there, but not being loaded. It can also be changed to load from the CF card or a hard drive, which looks for a folder called AUTOLOAD in the root directory.

So check whether it's enabled, and if it is enabled, where it's trying to load from.

If you really don't have the preset data (either in the internal flash memory or on the CF card) you can download it from http://www.akaipro.com/mpc1000 and re-install it (in any of the internal memory, CF card or hard drive, and make sure the MPC tries to load from wherever you put it)

This book goes into much more detail than the manual and is very useful for understanding all the things you've asked about. I need to practise practise practise to get good on my mpc1000, but I understand how everything works a lot better after reading that.

With the help and much practice/trail & error I figured most of these questions out...maybe you can tell me if this sounds right...

I start my MPC, load samples and assign them to pads, then create a new program, save that program, then go back and make a beat...
once I create the beat I save it as entire memory in the same folder that my program is stored in.

sounds ok

you don't strictly need to save the program first, but doing so will let you reload just that program, not the whole beat with the sequences etc.

there's no need to save in the same folder as the program either, Save Entire memory saves everything (the clue is in the name!) so you can load everything back at once including the program settings
