I am ignorant to alot of the gear you guys listed...can you guys recommend any gear I should get if I want to produce besides the XL, and what do you use to tweak your sounds?

I only use a mixer on stage, at home, I use the AD/DA rack inputs and the internal mixer.

I think A real bass could be great for house music, a rhodes too...

House music; Dance; Trancd; Club; etc.... too many names to mention. I specialize in sample based house; I take snippets from 70's; 80's records; sample cd's and create trance; dance or just outright raunchy street tunes (Fiesta).
I love to use Sound Forge Acid and Rebirth as well as the Mpc. The list goes on.
You can make house music with anything. I have a Korg Triton; with the Trance Attack Card; Mpc 4000Studio D and the emu xl-1 turbo with mo phatt card; and Techno synth construction yard. Those 3 things alone are enough to make trance; dance; house; electro; hip hop; R&B for years. It's funny I basically use the triton as a controller; the mpc as the master sequencer or just for inspiration (raw street tracks that later turn into whatever) The Emu xl-1 turbo with my expanded cards.scares the Ish out of me; it's bonkers!!!!!!! And yes you hear those sounds constantly in various hits found in the record stores. Whatever it takes man. I just installed reason 2.0 last week; haven't messed with it yet; if i like it; lookout; theres nothing like new software or hardware to help bring other ideas to fruition; again; whatever it takes man.
