wassup,

I posted this a while back on a different thread, but no one answered. couldn't find an answer by searching either. any help is welcome. i run the 1000 with JJOS1, by the way.

sooo... i can see how unlocking the padlock makes the start and loop points stay the same - but what i want to do is have the start point after the loop to point. That is, i want the sample to start half way through and then loop round to the beginning. i'm sure its possible, because i managed to do it before after a long and trying evening, but can't remember how. now every time i set the loop to point to 0 the start point automatically jumps back to zero as well. likewise, if i move the start point to the middle, the loop to point follows suit.
appreciate the help,

otherwise, i reckon the 1000 is a solid replacement for the 2kxl (i didnt even bother with their own os having heard from amillion people about jjos).

peace

someone called...... :)

it's possible, just goto do it in two samples... have the second one reversed and attack it a bit and just sequence it after the first sample depending on what your trying to accomplish.

and obviously decay it too, just to shape the sound you want, may want to loop the reversed sample, don't know what your trying to do, didn't really read the post.. but yeh boooowm!

sorry padlock, maybe i wasn't clear - i'm not trying to loop back and forth like this [<-->], but rather round and round like this [-->]. its just that i want the sample to start play after the point it loops back to (e.g. I want the start point to be at 20000, then it should play till 30000, and loop back to 10000). I have a sneaking suspicion people that say it can't be done are right, but i swear i managed it late night one time after much fiddling, and you can definitely do it on the 2kxl...

You need to set your sample start point using the qlinks. Go in trim mode and set how you want to normally loop the sample. Go to program mode and set the sample to note on. Then go back to the main screen, highlight the qlink (don't forget to turn on the after button for whichever qlink you use), press window, choose S. Start and adjust the sample start with the qlink.

nice one ocular, don't know why i didn't think of that. pity i need to use a q-link to set the start point though... usually have both of them assigned to some function or other. i wish you could set the sample start in the programme page (not talking about attack, obviously, but real sample start point)

anyway, thanks for your input. much helpfuls

Actually now that you mention it I think you can control the start point using step edit.
Go to step edit, highligt the event field and scroll to start then highlight and select the value to the right of start.

I have JJos 3.08.. and when you r setting the start point on trim screen and press window it says "Loop point = Start point: YES/NO". just pick no and adjust the loop start point when you press f1 for loop. Don't know if its different on different OS's but it works for me

yeah, that's how it was (different names for options is all) on the 2kxl as i remember. jjos1 does not have this option; not sure i can be bothered to pay for 2 (and 3, or is this a free upgrade...) just for that. i'm quite happy with jjos1 in generally, unless someone really want to convince me otherwise, pax al

I basically couldn't work without non destructive chops anymore, for me that alone is worth paying for the upgrade. I started working in a whole diff way when I started using non d chops, I'll put up a youtube vid sometime but I basically lay down a beat, then go into trim, get my sample and do non destructive chops, and get the chops done in about 45 seconds, it's ridiculously more creative, it lets you find ways of choppin a sample that you wouldn't usually figure out.

Drum breaks is even more crazy, shit I got to put up a video, with Non d chop I can chop up a 16 hit drum break in 30 seconds and that includes zooming in to reduce clicks..

crazy shit.
