I bought some emu rom( composer, mp7, orchestra, beat garden, and z76), I also bought 8 sample disk which I bought for $5 apiece. The sample cd's has the same exact sounds as some of the rom and plus it works good on the mpc 4000( you still have to tweek it alittle to get it like you want, but same sounds). I would suggest getting the sampled cd's from emu. BTW the cd's that I have are analog odyssey,hip hop nation, techno trance, emu classics,earth tones, world percussion\ensembles, world strings, and sound fx. Hope this helps.

you can get these sample disk from emu, but not online.
For some reason they didn't post these sampled cd's on the website but if you call in 1-831-438-1921 ( option 3, I believe) and ask about the sampled cd's, then you should be able to order them, they come in 2 different bundles (each containing 4 sample disk ) and they only cost $20 per bundle ( $5 per sample cd ). It's been about 2 months since I ordered mine, so hopefully they still have them in stock. I hope this helps, peace.

Where did you get them from???

straight from emu.

go to www.emu.com and find the number and just call order it factory direct. Came in less than a week. for 69.99.

my next rom will be the orchestral.

order fast though cause they are phasing them out and only have so many left. Oh and so far i think the zr76 is definately worth it.

I'm partial to the MoPhatt drums, and I've always wanted an MP7 to go with my mpc2000xl, and TurboPhatt. Greedy I guess. Is an MP7 worth having now, since the Motif drums seem to be dominating?

what was the other one that was exactly like the mp7 but more dance oriented?
thats the one i had. i hated that thing got rid of it and got my mpc.

Maybe you should try to get the mp7 rom, I don't know if emu is still selling it but you might be able to get it off of ebay. I bought my mp7 rom for $59 and I've installed it in my extreme lead and it's just like having a regular mp7, same sounds and everything.

i really love the mp7....definately cool to have with the mpc....sometimes i dont feel like busting out vinyl...so i just work with the mp7

its also nice to layer drums, filter them with the emu filter, then sample into the mpc......endless drums.

ive made a few bass programs for my mpc as well.

alot of people dont realize with the mophatt, but you get simple wav forms too...like a sine wav....that you can synthesize with; kinda like a VA synth....the filter on it helpwith this too. Usually ill layer a sine wav tuned low with a higher end bass tone....so iget some heavy bass with the right tone i like.....leaving some space in the middle if i do it right (so the drums sit good)

you just gotta work it...but presets are good too.

I was thinking about an mp7...but it seems quite expensive to me...cos you got to install all the sounds you want....is it becuase the sequencing part of the mp7 is much better? Why use the mpc and mp7 when you can use the mpc and mo'phatt sound module?

I got the pk6 and boosted it with 4 roms and I just have endless possibilities. It's like having 5 sample based keyboards in one and once
you know how to tweak it, the possibilities are endless. the arpeggiators are phat, you can get some mad patterns if you sample and chop up. I also created a preset on the mpc that plays every note on the keyboard and then I just hit record on protools, record a whole song with all the different drum sounds, add plug ins, time stretch etc and then save it as a WAV. then I open recycle, notch the sensitivity up and export that as a akai preset.... then just click and drag the folder into the mpc.... It's just such an easy way of building up your sound banks and takes a minute to record all the keys, a minute to add effects... a mînute to chop it up in reason and a minute to import the preset into the mpc... 5 minutes for 66 new sounds... Spend a week on it and you got some bad ass isht to work with guaranteed.

That machine has great sounds to start off with but the possibilities are endless if you work in the way I mentioned above.

My sound library has explosed in size since I stated using this method and must say, combined with some of the synth sounds in the pk-6 and other machines, it sounds phat as isht... hope this is helpful.

he uses that but also uses the mpc... he runs his drums threw the sansamp psa-1 which is a guitar amp. you can get those dirty ass drums with this thing.

They got a joint that's all drum and percussion too, the silver one, I think it's called a PX7 or some ish... emu did ok on those

yeah you can do that just as well.....I actually own the silver one the px7 (same as mp7 differant rom) and i also own the mk6 (mophatt keybaord)
i got a good deal on the px7- $400. I use to just use the mk6 with my mpc, like your sayin.

I took the rom out of the mk6 and put it in the px7 so essentially its the mp7. I use my mk6 keyboard as a midi keyboard....I also purchased the Sounds of ZR76 expansion rom.

Id say get the rack if you can, thing is you might want a keyboard it makes those sound much better. But unless you want like a portable thing....the mp7 is the shit! cause you can make everything on it, with no need for a sampler.
