using mpc1000 w/ ableton live 8

Hopefully someone on here is familiar with ableton, right now I'm trying to use my mpc as a controller to trigger samples in ableton, but for some reason the samples are acting as if note on is activated, it won't trigger the full sample it just plays the beginning and then fades out, also is there a way to set up mute groups in ableton? I know this isn't an ableton forum, but I'd appreciate any help you all can give

So you're using drum racks/sampler/simpler to trigger notes?

Hold your pads down longer on the MPC or change the parameter settings for the sampler of choice in Ableton so it doesn't behave like note on events. In particular probably decay/release.
