Free albums - Samples

I started a thread in OFF TOPIC with my music blog that i just started. It is going to be a way for me to share music that is semi-obscure. I will be uploading full albums for download. There will be some dope samples in here that could be very useful

I haven't really gotten any feedback/responses under the OFF TOPIC section so i figured i would link it up over here for anyone who might be specifically looking for that sort of thing.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm also down to share anything that you may want to share, if i find it appropriate. Just PM me if there is anything that you would like to share and i'll upload it and give credit to the person that sent it to me. I want to make this blog about exposing obscure music.

Get on there and download that sh!t before i'm forced to take it down, or it expires. There is already some good sampleable material, including a DOPE drum break up there.

I guess one reason why there's not many responses is that many people love vinyl for sampling (just a guess here, mainly speaking for myself). It just feels different when sampling from vinyl, even if i have a recording from wax on my computer to sample from... it's just not the same as sitting in front of a turntable with my mpc.

I'll post again after listening to them and will give some feedback then.

I grabbed the shpongle stuff, I'm curious about the Master's Apprentice stuff too.

But generally I disapprove of downloading stuff I haven't paid for. I might have a listen, then delete it. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but I prefer not to.

perhaps you will enjoy the masters, and attempt to find some of their stuff online.

You won't be finding any vinyl at a reasonable price, but you might find cd's.

By offering material that may be subject to COPYWRITE CONTROL, you may be in breach of certain forum rules.

I'd be very careful about that if I were you...YOU'RE LEAVING YOURSELF WIDE OPEN just to please others.

I've been on a hiatus while i work on my new house anyways.

If any of the mods have a problem with the blog, then they can lock the thread.

I'm not posting the material directly on the forum so i don't see the problem.

Masters apprentice is hard!! I'm downloading Goblin as we speak, it sounds really interesting.

word, i haven't been able to do anything recently. 2-3 more weeks on the house and i'll be settled and ready to share some more. Thanks for keeping this going!

Goblin is the best. I'm an old-school horror head, so I've been a fan of Dario Argento for days (he's one of the cats that M. Night Shyamalan stole all his moves from), and that was my first exposure; and even if they DID rip a 12-bar blues song from Mike Oldfield for their "Deep Red" soundtrack, it's fantastic stuff to listen to. You gotta be on point if you wanna flip some of this stuff, though, as a lot of it is in different time signatures. Not saying you can't do it; Justice sampled part of their soundtrack for "Tenebre" (it was the same band minus the drummer) for their songs "Phantom 1+2" and completely KILLED that shit, even though the original was in 5/4 (i think!). It's definitely do-able. Either way, I'm glad to see this band get props, them and John Carpenter soundtracks were a big influence on my views towards the importance of atmospherics in music.
