Swing problem

Hi everyone, my question is, can i turn of swing on time correct, or put zero percent as value?

I just get this mpc 500 in payment for another gear, and i am using it to sequence external midi an cv devices, but when i want to record midi in my computer DAW, the notes are a little of time. I think is the swing thing

I used to haw an mpc 2000 years ago, and i used for the same, I dont remember having this problem

I read the manual, and talking about external midi devices is awful. I understand that 50% is the chance the note is a little off the grid.

My problem is, with swing at 50%, all the midi notes y record in my DAW are off the grid.

You don't have a swing problem, but a sync problem...

Yes, swing always remains on time even if the drums sound discombobulated at 100%. Maybe your bpm is not matching those on your DAW?

What software are you syncing to for your DAW? You might have to setup MIDI delays or other things on your plugins/incoming signal. You could also quantize to 16th notes or something in your DAW and see if that makes a diff.

This time I was composing with the akai mpc 500, sending midi to a Minimoog via a tascam fw 1884, a roland A880 midi patchbay, a Doepfer MCV24, also to a Jomox M Base, so I decide to send midi to mi computer via the Roland A880, I open ableton live, put an Impulse whith some sounds, and i trigger those sound with my mpc. When i put the mpc and the ableton metronome, i notice there is no sync problem. I recorded the midi notes of the Impulse in a track on the mpc, it was a snare sound, but it was always a little of time. I think is some delay in the Ableton software. When i recorded the midi notes from the mpc in ableton, they were a little of time.

My initial question was, the swing, can i turn it of? since the manual is not so clear. how it works? when is off?

50% is no swing.

Swing is off when you don't mess with it. I don't know how to disable it via MIDI, maybe thats what your getting at, but can't that be turned off at Ableton?

But if you recorded the MIDI notes a little off time, then the Ableton recording will be a little off time too. Common sense. I think its a quantize issue is what you got.

In ableton you can adjust the delay for incoming midi/audio signals to resolve the exact problem you are having. It will of course introduce latency from when you hit a note on the MPC to when something plays/triggers in Ableton. Welcome to using hardware/software.

If you're not going to read the other posts here explaining what to do (and this is my second post telling you how to deal with the problem) at least RTFM dude.
