you can't be serious!!!!!

Um, Maschine has always supported external MIDI interfaces. And while the current 16 MIDI channel limit should be enough for most users, more midi channels have been requested and I'm sure NI could implement that via software without having to replace the controller if they choose to do so.

Hmm.. I don't see a need for new controller for Maschine happening. Even if that was to happen, it probably won't be anytime soon. I'm perfectly happy with it and it's not even an issue for most Maschine users. All that NI has to do is continue to develop the software which they're doing a great job at.

16 midi channels it has is enough for most people's sequencing needs whether you have external gear or not.

As for audio ins/outs, that's what an audio interface is for. If you mean software audio outs, I think 8 stereo/16 mono outs that it has currently is more than enough as well.

This is where you differ from many people, most people would like to see Maschine advance in those departments...I feel the same way that most others do. Maschine should support more midi ports and have a nicer hardware design in the future.

If I was ever to get Maschine, I would get it to replace things... not to have to carry more junk around. A laptop and Maschine would be fine by me. A laptop, Maschine, an audio interface, a midi interface and a power strip is much less attractive.

The more 'stuff' you need to get your environment running the more cables and drivers are required. The more you need the more room you have to introduce issues/failures/bugs/instability. It may just be me, but if I was to go this route I'd prefer to have one solid hardware interface with solid built in audio/midi to fit my needs. A future iteration of Maschine could make me happy, but as it stands it isn't quite there in my mind.

Don't bother saying that NI won't upgrade the hardware either... You do remember NI upgrading the Kore hardware to Kore 2? Do you remember how quickly they did that?

I only need one power cord for my laptop, Maschine controller connected with usb cable, and a MOTU UltraLite audio/midi interface that is bus powered by a firewire cable and takes up a very small footprint.

And depending on your setup, you could even have only a laptop and Maschine controller and nothing else, and even run it off the laptop's battery.

Just because they did it to Kore doesn't mean that it will be the same story for Maschine. Kore 1 had definite shortcomings and badly needed improvements and NI did what it had to do. It all depends on the particular product and not some inherent tendency for NI to keep upgrading hardware controllers just for the sake of it. And as Kore was their first foray into designing these types of hardware controllers for their software, I'm sure they learned valuable lessons from that they won't want to repeat.

if they do, by chance, improve the hardware design of the Maschine's Hardware, you'd still be tea bagging  .

If this one is ever available, I will pick up a copy of BPM.

Yeah - that guy is a member here too - posted the same stuff back in Feb

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=110896&start=135

But out of interest Askia - why do you like this over maschine - and why do NI need to make a controller like this? - Just wondering...

I reckon the controller is cool, not heavy duty like the mp1k but its dope, like others say i dont get the impression that a new hardware controller is coming but the new update is imminent.

peeps that have used bpm say it has a good sound engine and some dope feature but over all it aint **** with machine.

motu missed a step cos the when they advertised it originally peeps thought it was a hardware unit thats what got peeps interest they need to deliver on that original promised

Maschine's controller may do the job, but not much quality was really put into it. To be fair, it is as robust as most controllers on the market. But me coming from an MPC background, I want MPC-like hardware with the power of software similar to Maschine and BPM. This BPM controller seems like it is headed in the right direction.

I said it in many threads....give me a MIDI controller built exactly like the MPC 5000 or 2500. I am talking every single detail (with the addition of 360 degree Q-link knobs and banks for the Q-links). Add Windows/OSX based MIDI sequencing and sampling software (based off of MPC OS, Maschine, BPM, etc)...and you have what I believe NI and Akai should do next. As of right now, we have MPCs (still awesome after all these years) but whose software is limited compared to software only based samplers/sequencers. Then you have Maschine which is cool but is also limited when compared to other software sampler/sequencers....and even lacks basic sampling features MPCs have had for over 10 years.

Getting back to that BPM controller....I am impressed with it. But I would design the data wheel like the MPC 2000s or even the data wheel/cursor key combination like the Fantom G.

....I'm out. I have to watch Days of Our Lives and do some homework.

hi All,

well i've had the maschine for over a month now and i think

1. pads are the best on any drum machine ive used (all MPCs. roland and controller PAds do not compare)
2. i dont like how you need to hold the note repeat button down to work
3. i think the sample start and end point sample editing is too sensitive. (please if someone knows how to make the knobs less responsive please advise, i understand i can use the knobs to zoom and scroll, but find it a bit awkward compared to the MPC's zoom buttons, also i like how the MPC wheel clicks at each sample point when moving, maybe if this feature was in the maschine Knob builds then i would find it easier?)
4. unable to browse your Hard disk for samples directly from the Maschine interface (need to use the GUI for this) you can get around this by dragging folders into the Maschine Sound library so they show up in the Maschine library)

really need to sit down and get to grips with the sequencer, being used to the MPC for so long i am finding it hard to adapt to the maschine.

let me know if you have any tips

overall i am happy with the maschine and i think when the HD access is fixed in a future update and the note repeat issue i'll be even happier with my purchase.

- when you hit note repeat there is a button in the left screen that says "repeat" if you hit that it will lock the note repeat

- to get more precise with your editing you can hold the shift button while turning the knob to get a finer resolution in the knob

- they need to allow us to access our hard drive folders from the controller, period

saint by name saint by nature!

Excellent! thanks for pointing this out! works exactly as you described!

so thats only one final change native instruments need to make as far as i'm concerned

come on Native Instruments enable Hard Disk Browsing from the hardware interface!

lets hope they come up with the goods in a future update!
