Ok you lucky MOFOS!

I've FINALLY done it.

I have four prototype/demo screens going in the mail today for the MPC2000XL

I should have them within 2-3 weeks. (I know, right?)

If they test ok, I'll be selling on ebay, so this is a heads up.

THEY ARE AN OEM SCREEN. Keep in mind the labeling/branding of these screens is not who manufactored them.

Pronto Pronto Puff.... so don't go selling your 2KXLs.

Yes, I HAVE MPC4000 SCREENS as well. Also BRAND NEW

Grublet here on the forum is a local cat I know, so when these come in, my 2KXL and his will be the first two with em.

We're gonna use the livin poop out of em and leave em on 24 hrs a day for testing.

Should be all good. Yes, I've been workin on this a long time. 2 years?

Well.... Price is yet to be determined....
I still need to line up a manufacturer of the ribbon cable as well,
the 4 prototypes do not have them, so I'll have to de-solder the originals and solder them to the new boards.
The final sale products will have the cables soldered on. Simply plug and play.
But my final total cost is still yet to be determined....
So far all the developement cost has been out of pocket, and though expensive, fairly reasonable considering the scale of the project

It will largely depend on the number of screens purchased....
which will be dependant on what I can afford out of pocket up front.

At any rate.... what did they sell for at the time of discontinuation??? $250??? LESS THAN THAT!!!
I will price them fair, and will only be selling them on my website via PayPal payments.
After more thought, I'm most likely NOT doing Ebay because of the fees associated. We'll see

Also, they will be available in colors.
I could technically offer thousands of colors, but that would be unmanageable, so I'll probably offer 6 or so standard.

Also, I have integrated a jumper to invert the screens
(Like that on hard drives or optical drives for cable modes)
Leave the jumper off and it's a typical 'black on white' display mode
Put the jumper on and it's a 'white on black' display mode
This will make a black screen possible for Darth Vador fans.

If you want a 4000 screen, I have em. I can invert it for you. And yes they are brighter and crisper.
My 4000 screens are also set up with an inversion, but it is a solder pad by default. (Dab of solder to bridge)
I hadn't thought of the all-too-simple header for a jumper at that time. A no brainer.

The reason I went with the header on the 2000XL screens was so it can be easily done and undone. Just a jumper cap.

If you want the 4K screen, just email me: studio AT tablesyrupstudios DOT com

Let's try to keep this to the 2000XL screens. I'm getting confused :)

Of course they will. Nothing lasts forever.

But they are brand new. And they will last just as long as the originals did, probably longer due to higher grade components.

Nothing lasts forever yo :)

I've explained why numerous times, not gonna explaine it all again.

Unfortunately, do to the layouts, space restrictions, LCD Panel design and costs, it is very cost prohibitive to try to change this for these screens now.

The time and place to have changed it would have been in R&D and designing the machine in the first place.
But, again, due to costs, this is why they went this route.

If I were to try changing this now..... it would be SO expensive that it just would not have happened at all.

When did the old beige machines hit market? 95 ish ??? so 15+ years out of a screen isn't bad. And that's the ones failing now.

The new screens I am having made use a newer, more modern components.
Same overall type and design, only, better materials and technology going into them now,
which will most likely increase their effective life by 30-40% so 20yrs + (ESTIMATED, and in no way guaranteed)

I have also changed a couple things in the circuit to improve on some, what I consider, design flaws....
however, it is essentially the same, works the same, will be a bit crisper and brighter, but all in all, close to original
