MIDI

I have an mpc 500 and I just bought a Yamaha E323 i hooked everything up correctly. I want the instruments from my keyboard to play in my mpc so i can make a song, but only the samples from my mpc play on my keyboard and back too, what do i do?

Under Track -> Params change the midi port from off to 1-16.

so i set the MIDI channel but it wont let me set a MIDI channel for the drums i want to use, what do I do ?

What does that mean it won't let you set a channel for drums you want to use? Sorry, I'm not understanding the issue. Is it playing a different sound other than drums?

Yes, it is playing a different sound other than drums. Lets say I record a sequence with a trumpet first, then i switch it to drums, it will not record the drums

You need to use the note that the pad was assigned to. You can do this I think, by looking all the way to the right of the Program pad and see what notes they are assigned to. Also, try changing the range of notes your keyboard is set to. That may be what you're looking for.

If you record a midi sequence with midi channel 1, and then change that sequence to channel 2 it will play different sounds. You need to make a new track.

hey guys first time beat maker and i know that this site has got a lot of them on it i Followed the instruction for fruityoops to make my mpc 500 into a middi but i have one problem i cant get anysound out of fruityloops when i hit the fpc pads can anyone help me with this please and thank you
