Syncing 4000 as master with Sony Acid 7.0 as slave

I'm at my wits end I've sat here for hours doing exactly what logic suggests but it dousnt seem to be working.

4000 as master and Sony Acid as slave - I copped Ableton 8.1.1 Suite buts its pirate and I get serious errors when trying to record from mpc to ableton.

MPC: Misc -> Midi Time Code: MIDI OUT-A: Frame Rate: 30 - Send MMC: Midi OUT-A

Sync: On

This seems to be pretty much the same setting Ableton required; but with success. Any ideas here? Anything I might have over looked?

From the way things look, it seems to me that "external control" would be catered to control of the program or certain features within it.

Above that I see there's a timecode feature. In most cases this reference would be for both internal & external sync. The 4k loves to work with MTC, so this would seem to be a likely source to look into.
