jjos xl for the 2500.

I'm currently running the free version of the JJOS. i want to step it up and upgrade to XL but, i have a couple of questions. Can I upgrade to XL directly from the free version of JJOS for the 2500? I know the download is free for XL but, you need to purchase a password to enable the SAVE option on the MPC, right?

no problem... did this 2 weeks be4. but from the free to the xl is a big STEP....
for me there were to many functions..... i downgraded myself to os1 get into jjos....

How big of a difference was it? After reading forums, I feel I'm not using the MPC to it's full capabilities. How is OS1 working out for you?

no. you need to have a paid version of os 1 in order to install os 2xl. os 2xl needs to be installed on top of os 1 (even if you don't want to pay for 2xl it right away & just try it out first without saving. os 1 still needs to be there).

sorry. bit of 1000 / 2500 mix-up.
JJ really made this whole thing confusing by making the process/os different for the 2 machines.

i have the 1000, and that requires os 1 to be installed. apparently, that's not true for the 2500.

straight from JJ's page on the 1000:

OS1(Ver4.99I or more version) into which the password was entered is required for installation of OS2XL.
It is not installable from AKAI OS and free JJ OS.
Therefore, when the password of OS1 is not entered, please purchase the password of OS1 first.

i seem like i should try os1 first. avoid all the mix up and possible headaches.

Jump in at the deep end.

Take the big upgrade from free to XL. That way you'll also be able to use older versions. Do it! You won't regret it.

thats correct. you'll have no problems at all.

I´ve installed the XL but didn´t purchased the password yet. The main reasons that I want XL is to editing velocity from the grid mode, that is a great function, and some other facilities.

BUT that´s one thing that I´m a little disapointed, it´s the filter and ADSL section of the individual pads. There´s some GREAT options on AKAI OS that I haven´t seen on JJ... Specially that option to open the filter or the attack according to the velocity the pad is hit. You know, that way you can simulate more the timbre changes of the drums on every hit, and that gives a lot more life to the drums.

I´m really confused now. I was not expecting JJ to not have this function. But I don´t know if this only function can make me stay with the AKAI OS, I´m still hopefully looking for it, in the case of it being hided somewhere else...

V> Amount
V> Freq
