slow boot-up

ive notice over the last 2 months that my MPC is botting up slower and slower, im at almost 30 seconds now. its not to the point i can go for a coffee break between turning it off and on, but its pretty bad. anyone else? whats the reason?

The most obvious reason could be if u use autoload and the autoload-file is getting bigger (because u save entire memory into autoload?).

Pretty much. I have nothing in Autoload and I load up in less then 5sec.

no, i dont use autoload, dont have it enabled

and im not talking about loading time, im talkin about boot-up, the time it takes between pressing on to the time you see "MPC 1000 (16 MB Installed)" thats screen

I thought it might not be that easy. Maybe not what others would suggest, but I would reinstall the OS

I can not think of any reason to install the OS. This is not a miscrosoft product. The MPC's have a good process of verifying the integrity of the OS before it is written to Flash ROM. If there was any problem with the integrity of the OS, it would not get written.

It is possible that the MPC takes longer to boot with newer Operating Systems. OS's obviously get larger with features and fixes.

Haha? Joke...funny? Though I can see how some people may misinterpret as the truth.

The problem could be the internal power supply breaking down,
or maybe there is oxide between pins or something in the memory expansion slot making it try to detect an external memory, do you bring your machine
in the bathroom?

can peopl ein here do me a big favour, and clock (approx) the start-up time on their MPC, till the point it says "MPC 1000 (16 MB Installed)" or whatever you customized the startup to?

3-4 secs. I have the memory exp.

did you put extra RAM in it?

if the RAM is acting funny it would take the mpc extra time to check it on boot
