Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Finally! I was seriously thinking about taking this to a place I used to work at to see how much prototyping and small scale manufactoring would be.

And ye for colors and jumpers! Now I will have to realize my vision of a charcoal MPC with red pads and a red inverted screen.

Haa... Only 4? No. These 4 are just the initial protorype evaluations.

I'll have as many as I can afford to purchase with each run

Sabotage, Charcoal and red would be hot.

I always wanted to do mat black or satin black, with red pads, white lettering. Would be kinda old school hot rodish.

All black would be crazy too... With dark grey lettering so it doesn't stand out. Murdered out... Even the screen.

Anyway.

I can't wait.

Been workin on this a long time

Das,

Thanx homie.

I was actually on this for a while way back years ago, when screens were still available through Akai/VST ,
but I couldn't fine em elsewhere....now I know why, cause they were already EOL'd and therefore out of production....

I couldn't stand lookin at the 2KXL being obsolete-d just because of a screen.

I put a ton of time and effort into this, 2 years going hard on the 2KXL screen.
The 4K Screen was an entirely different story.... Was nowhere near the difficulty of the 2KXL's
The issue with the 2KXL screen that makes it so hard, is the actual technology used.....
There are obsolete components that nobody is tooled to manufacture anymore.
I mean NOBODY.
That and EOLs, moving to new technology, lack of demand, change in government materials restrictions, etc.....
I called, emailed, and mailed the WORLD over, 3rd world countries, etc, to try finding someone with the tooling, materials, and components.
That was just for the ability to manufacture 2 components of these screens, not the entire screen assemblies themselves.
No Luck!
So..... I just redesigned and went from there.

So far they work at the factory. Real test will be in the machines here.

thanx

Yup Yup. I'll photobucket Pics of Before and After.

I don't have any machines here with bad screens, but you will see a noticable difference from original to replacement.

Also, I'll do a few pics with different colors, and inverted.

Grublet here on the forum is a local cat I know, so when these come in, my 2KXL and his will be the first two with em.

We're gonna use the livin poop out of em and leave em on 24 hrs a day for testing.

 This is really, really unbelievable, you really done it! This is a big news! Thank you for your hard work! (I would be really upset if this is internet hoax!)
@N-Roc Classic and XL use the same LCD screen, but the ribbon cable length is different.

Hey hey, my bad, been really busy with my full time gig and the studio.

Major label clients! Hellllz yeah! Bout time!

So yeah, 2000 and 2000XL are the same screen.

I'll be using long cables to accomodate either machine.

Like I said, prototypes are on their way... These 4 do not have the cables, so I'll have to swap my old ones on to the new screens, but I'll get that sorted out before the first order.

Just gotta test em in the MPCs, make sure they work properly, check quality, etc....

That is sure the news of the year for all the 2000(xl) heads. If the price will be ok (and you said that it will be fair) I belive there will be hundreds wait..... thousands of people who want to buy one.
That news is a little hope in this hopeless world. Of course there are much bigger problems than MPC LCDs but we are witness of a solution to a problem most people thought It couln't be done.

I'm really happy right now. Last time I felt that way was when I read about the sample source of "mass appeal" by Primo :)

Thank you!!!!!!
