Will we ever run out of vinyl to sample from?

I think we won't if we start chopping and pitching our sampled riffs more so they sound nothing like the original.

Thats true we must design our stuff more better. Cant do the puffy on a track now thats wack. There is a lot of vinyl out there that has been untouched as of yet

There is a whole lot of untouched stuff out there.Just think the majority of hip-hop songs that are sample based all originate from Soul and R&B.There have been some rock stuff sampled but mostly it's just been soul and r&b.There is alot more than that to be sampled.For example one of my favorite vocal samples was the Eminem produced "Running" which featured Biggie and Tupac.Now the vocal sample that carried that song came from a country record.I for one do not even buy stuff that I've even heard of before.At my local dig spot they have a basement full of music that I've never even heard of or knew existed that's where I spend my money.Hell in my neighborhood there are 7 big dig spots 4 of which are record stores that carry stuff that the average hip-hop guy has never heard of.My neighborhood is so artist driven and musician driven that finding new stuff to sample is very easy.

yea... i aint gonna name drop any recs or anything, but there is massive amounts of fairly newly released stuff that most hip hop heads aint checking for at all... im talkin shit with sick drums that would be hot (and unrecognizable to most heads that listen to hip hop) even if you just busted a loop with them... its not like there arent new records coming out all the time adding to the collection of records to dig thru... the number of records and artists is forever expanding to infinity... hopefully your imagination is on the expansion tip too... when it comes to sampling, everything is game... dont limit yourself...

Ontopic I don't think we'll ever run out of stuff to sample.. I mean I could sample my existing records for the rest of my life and make a lot of good ish.. Of course I won't stop digging but you know what I mean!

Granted some might be very similiar, but it could be done. I dig for inspiration too! ya know

There is more old music available today than ever before. Vinyl still seems strong, I doubt we'll run out in our lifetimes.

As much as I love searching for vinyl, alot of sh*t I've been sampling off of recently has been jazz, blues, rock, disco, funk cd compilations. And I don't mean popular groups from years ago, I mean deep, dirty, 1-45-record-puttin-out-groups and singers I've never heard of. Don't get me wrong though, if I find a song on a cd i like, I'll still look for it on vinyl.

aeh!! any of you ever checked out the movie SCRATCH .in that movie they are interviewing dj shadow and he tells it best ,the people we are sampling from once thought they would make it big; but they are down in some basement of some record store collecting dust, they were one hit wonders or made a few albums; so watch out because the same might happen to you! it's the vinyl resting place.

i would say to learn to create your own music and not be like puffy, he was just in the right place at the right time, i really never thought he was all that ;i never liked anything he put out anyways it all sounds like the people he stole it from; in that case he should have never sampled it. him and van-illa should be put on a boat and sent out to sea.

but i think that vinyl will be around for a while it's a media that has a unique sound that can't compare, i remeber when i was akid back around 20-25 years ago they said records where going out because there was a new media coming out , that was CD's and there here and vinyl is still around . now they have record burners for the home studio.

never....even if there was never a piece of wax issued ever again-we would still never run out because it is impossible to listen to every vinyl ever released

Not to mention the insane amount of 78's available, movies, old tv shows...

And as time passes more and more will end up with expired copyrights, unless the disney corporation buys even more mickey mouse legislation that is...

yes...i'm very scared of the day when we run out of vinyl to sample. we might actually have to start writing our own music, and this thought scares me more than death itself.

u never run out..i got maybey 60 records and still make new beats
