How do I stop my Mp from rusting further?

I have an early 1000 model and the back panel and bottom are starting to rust quite a bit. I'm not trying to do anything drastic, like sanding or scrubbing off what's already there, I just want to know if there's some kind of spray or something to apply that will slow the process. Maybe rub some WD-40 on it?

Try getting a car touch-up kit. My friend used some on his car that stops rust and turns into primer. Then paint over it with a matching color.

and afterwards, go to your local Ford Dealer and order a GT 5.0 badge to cover any paint drips! haha!
Seriously though, it sounds like your MPC is in a lot of humidity. I've never had any equipment rust on me, and some of my gear is almost 30 years old. If I was you, I would buy a whole new case for your MPC, or sand it down and try to customize it. At your point, you have nothing to lose by trying it..

Go for the rat look in my opinion. Seems to work on old campers, so why not on a 1000?

Between buying materials and time spent on refurbishing the parts, you're better off buying a new back panel. Plus you don't have to worry about the print.

As for the bottom plate, clean it up with steel wool or emery cloth. Then apply a clear coat.

You may want a dehumidifier or some shiz to prevent moisture in your gear spot

I got my Mp used several years ago and it already had the signs of rust. It's not that bad really. I just want to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. I've had equipment for many years and have never had this problem. That's one of the things I love about the Mp... The more wear they have, the cooler they look. As long as it ain't falling apart or rusting through, that is.

clean up the rust and use clear finger nail polish... no joke. Your misses might get pissed though for using it.
