I don't really sample re-issues too much, but sometimes I listen to see if the music is good and see if I can find an original copy (I just like have originals though I'm not a purist or anything)...

I'm not big on this, but some cats are... Vinyl purists believe that you should only have original pressings... I'm not a millionaire so sometimes a re-issue will have to do...

At least I'm not sampling off of Dr. Dre CD's...

Yo I was talking to a cat about David Axlerod after reading I think it was cheechs post on him...respect for that......and he said that his original $hit can go for $300 on up and a reissue could be as much as 30.00. Now if I buy a record for more then 50.00 bucks I'm just going to lisen to it but a reissue I would buy to sample from.

Most of em have the re-issued date on there... It'll say something like originally pressed on such and such a label in 1963... Then it'll say the label it's pressed on now and 1998 or 2004... Usually... Sometimes it don't and it just has original dates and then you can usually tell by the condition of the sleeve... A lot of times re-issues have heavy duty cardboard sleeves that didn't come on the originals... At least in my experience...

sometimes you can tell by the coloration of the album too.

if you look at the vinyl you can tell by the wax it's on they had better wax back then heavy duty not like nowadayz flimzzy wax warps easy usually by the time you get home.

Im down to sample whateva I can find that has dopeness on it, re-issues, comps and all that.

i dont care, my goal is make something i like

Because of the blood sweat and tears that go into digging out those rare/elusive joints, only to find out everynes got it a month later..... bit of a diggin' thing. But if your ona forum about diggin'...why ask???

i just copped 2 sealed reissues of David Axelrod "earth rot" for $5.99 each... reissues are cool, unless they are taxin' some outrageous price for them... i start hating when i know its a bootleg or reissue and its all inflated ass price...

i got the Lou Rawls lp produced by D. Axelrod but i aint even really up on most of Axelrods music, i just hear his name all the time... this is actually the first time ever coming across one whilst digging... so when i saw 2 of em for that price i had to cop em... even if i dont sample em, i can always mix with em...

also...

on the records, its a dead giveaway that it is probably a reissue when you see the word "licenced" anywhere on it... most of the reissues nowadays are bootlegs though it seems...

Speakin of Blood, Sweat, and Tears... I picked up one of their albums recently (I love all their albums)... It had some amazing samples on it and actually had a vocal sample that Cunninlynguists used.... I was psyched...

I have no problems with reissues.

I got problems with it...

My collection is mainly of old jazz, funk and disco records. When I find an original record or 12 inch that I have been looking for years, it's an accomplishment and a major rush.
Now people can shop on line and buy reissues and say they are crate diggers.

When I think of Blood, Sweat, & Tears, I automatically think of "Sons Of 3rd Bass." Classic.
