trouble editing program with 2500

hi first post here! i finally got my 2500 2 days ago after lurking around here for a long time. if you post here alot you probably allready helped me so cheers!

first thing i noticed was the pads were really bad and soft, so i did the dot stickers on the under side of the pad mod i saw here and that sorted it completely so cheers for that. I used seven circular stickers on top of each other, on each pad , total depth probably 1.2mm. i got a whole book of stickers from post office for 99pence and have 3/4 of them left so for 25p LESS THAN £1 DOES THE SAME JOB AS PAD KORX FOR 35$ + SHIPPING. if any ones wondering.

the next thing that bothered me ( and i still havent worked out a satisfactory solution to)
is that when im changing the filter settings of a pad in a program thats just the same sample tuned across the range. what i really want to be doing is changing all the pads the same. As in, say i want the lfo on all 16 samples to effect the filter at the same rate i have to go into every pad lfo set the rate individualy. then if i want to change filter settings i have to go into every single one and do it the same.. =16 times as much of a pain in the arse as it needs to be. i must of missed something here i tried a search for program edit and it looks like jjos has this thing -global program edit. this cant be the only solution. even on my s3000xl you can switch on ALL and edit the whole program like that.

dont get me wrong its great that you can custom settings for each pad- really great for drums and other madness. However just for bass or string programs for example where you want to get vibrato from sending the lfo with a bit delay to pitch, it seems there is something absolutely crucial missing here.! ?

on a side note aside from a couple of little issues pads data wheel etc i am seriously happy with this peice of kit first night out of the box i was chopping breaks and sequencing them in ways i would never in a million years conceived of doing with a mouse and grid/piano roll. happy days, and nights.

any insight with the edit whole program issue would be greatly appreciated

my only reservation is that i only have 1 128 memmory card and i spent the last two days filling it up. do you know if i will lose all that if i put on another os? if so ill just have to wait till my 160gb hard drive gets here, copy it all over and then do it.

U won't loose any of ur data since it's stored on ur cf card. Like when upgrading ur pc to windows 7, the data on ur external disk will still be on there.

oh ok thats good- its just that i read in the jjos faq that you put the os on a card, presumably with a card reader/writer. then put that in your mpc then turned it on and follow instructions.

is there another way?

i really dont know anything about computers either my brother lets me use his when i need so very weary about wiping memmories by mistake happened a few times with my other samplers allways left a lump in my throat so... once bitten twice shy kinda thing.

how is it done with out involving the memmory card?

i just went to the jjos site and see that the os is only 867 kb so theres enough space on the cf card

the way it said to do it is to down load the os file to computer from site then take usb to mpc and the computer should mount the card as a drive on the computer copy the file to card and then load it from the card to mpc.

i think iv got my head round it just as long as others have done it this way and not lost cf card contents. ill try it tonight

it's not, you need to load it from the CF card

unless you do something stupid and delete everything on the card, copying one extra file to the card can't make you lose what's already on it
