Re-issues

BS&T are one of my favorite groups to actually listen to... I love Chicago and some other groups and my dad was a huge fan of Chicago, but I lean more towards BS&T...

I have my originals all sealed up in the vault at the crib, rarely take them out or even listen to them, theyre my babies.

But if Im playing out at some sh1tty club for $20 and wanna do a breaks set, you can be sure Im taking my reissues to play. Im not about to f**k up my impossible-to-replace, sometimes-expensive originals because some drunk @$$ spilled a beer on it.

FACTS:
Originals almost always sound better.

Most re-issues don't take the time to remaster or restore those old tapes that have slowly deteriated over time sitting in some damp room rotting away... so the sound quality is not as dope. The vinyl usually isn't as good either like someone already mentioned. So you get a poorer quality sound.

Do a taste test styled sound test, you'll definitely hear the difference. Better for sampling, playing on a soundsystem or just pure home listening pleasure.

MY OPINION:
Of course I own some re-issues for some stuff, although I do have mostly originals by far.

BUT there is nothing better than finding "new" old records you and most of your friends or hopefully anyone else haven't heard of. Then flip that beat, make a hit record, and turn that find into something everyone else starts trying to track down and/or watch it get re-issued a year or two later. Just muh 2 Cents worth long term vision.

I've spent the last 20 years buying records, digging, collecting etc and each find is gold for me. Reissues aren't gonna change the rush for me. Finding the original gold is still the best. Same type of argument with MP3's. Some dude will try to impress me with his 5000 track MP3 collection... I'm like "that's cool man, glad you enjoy the tunes" but the fact that I can DL the song doesn't make me not want the original on wax.

I'm going to be real I'm looking for some David Axlerod joints and if I can't get a hold of an original or reissue within the next month or two I will be ordering online

my goal is to make good music it don't matter if i sample from a reissue, tape,cd, and keybord as long as i get the sound i'm looking for it's all game. don't get me wrong i love digging, but i try not to box myself in

reissues are good for djs (like myself). i got out to a show, i don't have to take the original record and be afraid that someone steals it or just **** shit up. i can keep that original record safe at home...
